Swashbuckling survival adventure with over 350,000 wishlists sets sail with first public alpha playtest

TORTUGA — June 26, 2025 — Indie studio Crosswind Crew announced today that Crosswind, the upcoming survival adventure game set in an alternate Age of Piracy, has launched its highly anticipated first public alpha playtest on Steam. To celebrate, the team has released an exciting new trailer, giving a deeper look at what to expect in Crosswind!



Amassing over 350,000 wishlists since its first reveal in March, Crosswind reimagines the classic “build, craft, survive” formula with souls-lite boss fights, broadside sea battles, and seamless ship-to-shore exploration. The new alpha focuses on core survival systems and offers roughly 30+ hours of content.

Key Alpha Features:

Explore three expansive biomes, each packed with resources, enemies, and dungeons

Defeat three memorably epic bosses in souls-lite combat, offering unique challenges and available in multiple difficulty tiers

Captain three playable ships - and plunder a bonus NPC merchant vessel

Fight on land, at sea and during dynamic boarding actions

Team up in experimental online co-op for up to three players - or play solo!

The Crosswind hands-on alpha test is expected to run for the next several weeks. Players will be let in via the Steam playtest system, but if you miss the chance to set sail this time around, there will be other playtests in the future!
