TOKYO — June 26, 2025 — Video game publisher and developer Cygames, Inc. (HQ: Shibuya, Tokyo; President: Koichi Watanabe, hereinafter referred to as “Cygames”) released the English version of its popular title Umamusume: Pretty Derby, a free-to-play simulation game that has surpassed 30 million downloads across Asia. The English version is now available on iOS, Android, and PC via Steam🄬 and Google Play Games.

About the Game and English Version Features

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a simulation game and part of the Umamusume Project, a multimedia franchise produced by Cygames, which consists of anime, manga, music, and games that tell stories of characters inspired by racehorses. Along with their classmates and trainers, the Umamusume work towards every racer's dream—winning the Twinkle Series.

The English version will feature the following adjustments to improve player experience.

Pacing: Events and Scouts will retain their original durations but release with shorter gaps in between them, making for a faster pace of content.

Expedited Features: Certain unlaunched features of the Japanese game will be available immediately on English release, such as landscape mode in races and the jukebox.

Cross-Platform: Account data can be synchronized across mobile device and PC (Steam, Google Play Games).

Launch Celebration Giveaway

To celebrate the game’s release, the English version’s official X account will be holding a giveaway event from June 26 to July 10. Prizes include an iPhone 16 Pro, three pairs of AirPods Pro 2, and a total of 500,000 carats, with 100 winners getting 5,000 carats each. Global Music Streaming

Beginning June 26 at midnight in each local time zone, the complete soundtrack of Umamusume: Pretty Derby will be made available on major music streaming platforms worldwide, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music. Fans from around the globe will be able to listen to all of the game’s character songs, background music, and more—around 1,000 tracks in total. Going forward, new songs will also be released globally around the same time as in Japan.

Cygames at Anime Expo and Japan Expo

This summer, Cygames will have booths at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles and Japan Expo 2025 in Paris, where visitors can enjoy content from Umamusume: Pretty Derby and other Cygames titles. The two events will also feature special showings of the movie Umamusume: Pretty Derby – Beginning of a New Era with subtitles. Details can be found on the websites of the respective events.

Collaboration with Round1 USA

Beginning June 30, Round1 USA will sell Umamusume: Pretty Derby collectors’ game cards at its locations across the United States while supplies last. A limited number of these game cards, which normally cost $5 USD, will also be available for free at the Cygames booth at Anime Expo. In celebration of this collaboration, there will also be a giveaway on social media at a later date for a game card pre-loaded with $100 USD worth of credits usable at all Round1 USA locations. First Episodes of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby Anime Free on YouTube

The first three episodes of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby anime’s first season can be watched for free on the official Crunchyroll YouTube channel, with subtitles available in a multitude of languages. Any newcomers to the world of Umamusume will find an accessible introduction in these episodes.

Partnering with Racing Culture Around the World

As a way of paying tribute to the culture that Umamusume: Pretty Derby takes inspiration from, Cygames values opportunities to collaborate with globally prestigious horse-racing events. In November 2024 and May 2025, the company partnered with the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and 151st Kentucky Derby, respectively, to sponsor races on the most important days in the American racing calendar.
