Solve sokoban-style puzzles in a journey through grief, memory, and healing with a 10% launch discount available for a limited time.
Adelaide, Australia - June 20, 2025 - The heartfelt fantasy puzzle game After Light Fades is out now on Steam for PC, launching with a 10% discount for its first week. Developed by indie studio Orchid of Redemption, the game invites players into a surreal, magical world shaped by memory and loss. Across seven handcrafted puzzle worlds and more than 100 sokoban-style challenges, players must uncover meaning, navigate grief, and ultimately let go of what once was.
The story is told primarily through gameplay and environment. Each interaction, whether connecting circuits, redirecting fire, or growing vines, is designed to reflect Alice’s emotional transformation. Rather than relying on dialogue or cutscenes, After Light Fades encourages players to feel the emotional weight of its themes through the mechanics themselves. The act of letting go is not only narrative but mechanical, as players are asked to abandon key abilities they have grown attached to. This design choice reinforces the game's central message: loss and growth are deeply connected, and transformation requires change.
The game builds on sokoban-style design and expands it with magical, interconnected systems. Players will experiment with mirrors, magnets, elemental transmutation, guardian spirits, clones, portals, and more. The relationships between objects create layered challenges where logic and emotion meet.
A complete level editor with Steam Workshop support is included at launch, giving players the tools to build and share original puzzles using the same mechanics found in the main story.
Key Features:
Seven Emotional Puzzle Worlds - Explore seven handcrafted fantasy environments, spanning over 100 puzzles, each reflecting a stage of grief. From shimmering coves to shifting manors, every world features its own emotional tone and puzzle mechanics, each ending in a powerful act of letting go.
Interconnected Sokoban-Inspired Mechanics - Solve spatial puzzles where objects interact in surprising and meaningful ways. Use mirrors, magnets, fire, vines, clones, and elemental systems in deeply layered challenges that evolve far beyond traditional box-pushing.
Metaphor-Driven Narrative of Healing and Transformation - Experience an emotionally resonant story told through gameplay. Each of the 7 key mechanics you master is eventually relinquished, making each act of puzzle-solving a reflection of the main character’s internal journey through grief and growth.
Built-In Level Editor with Steam Workshop Integration - Create, share, and explore player-made puzzles with the same powerful toolset used in the main game. Design intricate emotional journeys or mechanical experiments and upload them directly to the Steam Workshop.
After Light Fades is now available on PC via Steam for $14.99 USD with a limited-time 10% launch discount. For more details, visit the website and follow on Instagram, Bluesky, and X.
