Composer Dale North releases soundtrack to Astral Ascent's "2.0 Update," The Outer Reaches, with new music featuring live orchestra and explosive combat themes

SAN DIEGO - June 10, 2025 - Scarlet Moon and composer Dale North are thrilled to release Astral Ascent: The Outer Reaches Original Game Soundtrack. Following up the successful 2023 original game and soundtrack, The Outer Reaches, also known as the Astral Ascent's "2.0 Update," continues the fast-paced roguelike action fans have come to love and adds new areas to explore and foes to conquer, all with new musical accompaniments by Dale North. "The Garden Revisited" is recorded by a live orchestra and the other combat and exploration themes are primed to get players' blood pumping. "It was so nice to revisit and also reimagine the world of Astral Ascent through music," comments composer Dale North. "I imagined it slightly more challenging and exciting so for this release so I hope fans of the game feel it."

Astral Ascent is a 2D platformer roguelite game set in a modern fantasy world. As one of four heroes with very different personalities, escape from the Garden, an astral prison guarded by 12 powerful and vicious bosses, the Zodiacs. Unlock dozens of unique spells for each character, optimize a build or try out new ones to take on the Zodiacs. Get stronger with each match-up that will continually test skill and reactivity.

About Dale North

Dale North is a composer, arranger, and orchestrator for videogames, based in San Diego. As a multi-instrumentalist (piano, vocal, brass), performer, and singer- songwriter with an international training, he brings a unique voice to videogame music.

Dale's music mixes traditional instrumentation with vintage colors, blending live pianos and orchestral tones with the synthesizers and sound sets that shaped the sounds of games from the Super Nintendo and PlayStation eras. His upbringing in Tokyo, Japan helped shape his melodic sense (and his love of synthesizers), and he continues to hold the traditions of game music in the highest regard. He's best known for his work on RWBY: Arrowfell, Wizard of Legend, Wargroove 2, Dreamscaper, Sparklite, and Nintendo Minute.

Dale looks forward to working on projects that favor creativity and seek to honor game music's rich heritage.
