Rise of the Machines! TerraTech Legion announced for PC, demo available now
Payload Studios’ upcoming new title combines vehicle building with frantic action, as humanity battles against endless armies of crazed Legion mechs.
LONDON, UK, 8th June, 2025 — Payload Studios, creators of the fan-favourite sandbox vehicle-builder TerraTech, has today announced TerraTech Legion. Launching on PC in 2025, TerraTech Legion combines the series’ trademark modular vehicle construction gameplay with tactical arcade-action combat and intense meta-progression, to introduce a new chapter in the studio’s expanding creative series.
The game, which will be published by independent label Mythwright, was announced during today’s PC Gaming Show.
Set in the far future, TerraTech Legion sees players take the role of a tech pilot assigned to neutralise waves of deadly, rogue Legion AI battlemechs from taking over the galaxy. To do so, they must construct combat-ready vehicles from modular blocks, including an arsenal of weapons; a range of auxiliary technologies, such as speed boosters and armour sheeting; and different wheel types that can improve grip and handling. Every run brings humanity closer to its goal of eradicating the Legion AI threat, but also unlocks additional customisation options to enhance their builds.
TerraTech Legion also features physics-driven vehicle handling, enabling players to ram swathes of mechs on top of equipping weaponry, including cannons, rail guns, and laser swords, to their builds.
TerraTech Legion Key Features
Rogue-lite modular vehicle building: Harness boosters, cannons, orbital lasers, and more to build the ultimate battle vehicle!
Bullet Heaven survival: Shoot, slash, and blast waves of deadly bots under the control of the rogue Legion AI; take down brutal boss mechs before targeting their factory outposts and stopping the carnage once and for all.
Furious mechanical combat: Use the heft of your physics-based vehicle to plough into the Legion AI enemies at terminal velocity.
Upgrade, augment, advance: As you progress towards the eradication of the Legion AI’s armada, unlock new build strategies, explore dangerous new terrains, and discover new blocks to unleash renewed fury with each new run.
Hazardous worlds: Survive increasingly treacherous biomes with unique terrain layouts, enemy types, and boss challenges.
Russ Clarke, Co-Founder of Payload Studios, said: “TerraTech Legion builds on the vehicle-building gameplay our passionate community has loved for nearly a decade, and combines it with a frantic action experience for a match made in bullet heaven.”
