'Sam Lake' Tribute Song by Mega Ran Released for Charity
Teacher/Rapper/Hero Mega Ran releases a charity tribute single to celebrate game creator Sam Lake and inspire all creators to keep moving forward against immeasurable odds
PHOENIX - March 28, 2025 - Teacher/Rapper/Hero Mega Ran and the Random Beats label are pleased to present "Sam Lake," a tribute written exclusively for the 2025 New York Game Awards Legend Award winner, Sam Lake (Max Payne, Alan Wake). The track acts not only as a tribute to Sam Lake and his award-winning videogames, but also a thank-you to all creators, encouraging them to keep going despite sometimes immeasurable odds. Mega Ran wrote and produced the song and performed it at the sold-out event in January 2025 at the SVA Theatre in New York City.
Sam loved the track and noted, "I feel honored and blessed to have a song built for me by Mega Ran, and I want to shout out all the fierce and brave creators out there building new worlds."
50% of all proceeds from the song will benefit The New York Video Game Critics Circle, a non-profit whose program Playing With Purpose connects students with the NYVGCC’s vast network of industry professionals providing mentorship and internship opportunities. Young writers and creatives connect with industry legends, like Reggie Fils-Aimé from Nintendo and Phil Spencer from Microsoft.
