Lentils?

I'm not a big fan of these. They tend to be a bit grainy for my tastes.

However, I live in a region which is known for its lentils, and is the largest producer of lentils in the U.S. In fact, there is an annual Lentil Festival in Pullman, Washington, which boasts the largest kettle of lentil chili. They also have cooking contests, where the best recipes win prizes - and of course, all the recipes have to feature lentils, chickpeas, or other pulse products that can be grown on the Palouse.

Yeppers! That report is more than 30 years old, though. Things haven't changed much - the U.S. is the largest producer of lentils in the world, and most of them are grown right in my neck of the woods.

That is just a lot of hills...Things are usually flat and boring, or heavily forested here.

I like lentils though. Cheap, high protein, and healthy. But then, I haven't eaten a lot of them. XD

You know me. I'm really big on a good, solid story. If an action movie lacks that, then it's just guys running around, firing guns, and causing big explosions. If I wanted that, why would I go to the movies? I live in Northern Idaho, after all....

I have not tried it yet. And there are two very good reasons:

1) I haven't found any one to play it with (although my current on-line gaming group has discussed it as a possibility)

2) I haven't had any time to game.

Baking shows?

Some cooking shows can be really fun to watch. "Chopped" is always a good pick.

However, if you're talking about shows where you watch someone just bake... well, I don't think I've ever seen one of those. "All right, we have our dough in the pan. Let's put it in the oven and set the timer for thirty five minutes. ... So, while we're waiting, how about I share photos of my dog with you?"

I've heard that, of all the cooking competitions on the Food Network, Chopped is apparently the most difficult. It's the randomness of the ingredients that seem to throw the chefs for a loop. Having one surprise ingredient isn't a problem - it's having the versatility to deal with four that causes the most stress.

Ever hear of Cutthroat Kitchen? It's kinda like Chopped, but you get sabotaged. Next thing you know, you can only use a microwave, your competitor is cooking in a mini kitchen and your other competitor is chopping onions with a wolverine claw. My dad says it's hard enough to just cook .

I have heard of Cutthroat Kitchen (hosted by Alton Brown!) and we've watched some of the episodes when they had them on Netflix. Another thing I like about that show is that all the competitors start with their potential reward money... but they have to spend it in order to with the auctions. It's funny to watch someone throw all these sabotages at other people... and then the ones they sabotaged end up winning anyway! ("You just lost all your meat and had it replaced by Spam... and the judge thought it was the tastiest dish anyway?!?")

DC or Marvel?

Good question and it poses quite a bit of a conundrum. I've always liked Marvel's characters more - especially the X-Men - because they're more vulnerable and realistic in terms of super heroes. Come on, let's face it - Superman's only real weakness is a "super rare" mineral that Lex Luthor seems to have an unlimited store of. But Superman has so many powers that no one can stand up against him (with the possible exception of Batman because... well, Batman).

However, Marvel's been on a rather severe "PC" bender lately ("Captain America has supposedly been a Nazi all this time? And Thor is now a woman? Come on....") and the quality of their writing has plummeted as a result. I don't know... maybe it has something to do with Disney owning the company now. But I hope they start focusing on quality writing again, rather than trying to push some agenda down their readers' throats.

It's called Mississippi Crack or something derivative of that. You make a quick toffee, pour it over a package of saltines, then cover it with chocolate and nuts. It's really easy to make though. And I hate making candy.

Also, for the record...Red Skull filched a hypercube/tessaract and rewrote history to make Captain America a member of Hydra, and Thor is still Thor...he's just unworthy to wield Mjolnir, which went to Jane Foster instead, so she took up the Thor persona like the old Don Blake Thor. The actual Thor is now on a quest involving Beta Ray Bill to find another mjolnir and become worthy again.

Yes, it's contrived. Yes, it's political. But at least they've come up with half baked reasons for it. XD

Eh. There's a reason I don't read modern comics. Though I have just taken up the 2002 Ultimate Spiderman, since amazon has the digital collections for super cheap.
