Prince has been an interesting case for me. I'm old enough to remember when his career took off in the '80s, and even at that age, I was repulsed. His music and behavior was over-the-top sexualized (I think he even described himself as "omnisexual," meaning that his attractions went even beyond humans... let's leave it at that).
However, that changed when he converted to the Jehovah's Witness church. Apparently, becoming a member of that branch of Christianity turned his life around - so much that he even removed from his live performances some of the overtly sexual songs that helped to make him famous years before. It was an interview I read in the New Yorker where he described his conversion and how much his faith changed his behavior and perspective.
Keep in mind that I still don't like his music. He somehow comes off as high-pitched and nasal, and his voice is just irritating. But I respect the guy for finding faith and using his experience with Heavenly Father to try and turn his life around.

I remember seeing Purple Rain as a kid and I still do like When Doves Cry, I also liked the sound of Darling Nikki but the lyrics...not so much.
