Hasn't hit theaters yet
I'm going to get some hate when I say this, but Will Smith is a terrible actor. He can only play one kind of role and it is NOT because he is victem to type casting. Every movie he's ever been in, he's always played the same type of character. He is no better then Adam Sandler or Will Ferral and Keanu Reaves(sp?) - who is proof enough that a movie can survive the worst actor in Hollywood.LAVA89 wrote:Especially Will Smith....I thought he was an experienced actor?!ChickenSoup wrote:How does anyone trust M. Am I the only one who thinks this movie looks stupid?

Meh, not from me...there's alot of movies I've liked him in, but it is your opinion. Maybe comparing him to Adam Sandler might be taking it too far (In my opinion, Sandler seems to just keep reestablishing the bottom of the barrel).blacksinow wrote: I'm going to get some hate when I say this
Though, acting ability aside, my original point is that Will Smith, having experience (that is, after years of working in Hollywood...so nothing to do with whether he has actual talent) should be able to see that pretty much everything M Night has done lately has turned to mud.
I'll be suprised if the movie is any good. Not because Will Smith is in it, but because it falls under the M Knight Shamalon rule.LAVA89 wrote:Definitely not.cjv wrote:Am I the only one who thinks this movie looks stupid?

Just watched this movie.
It was GOOD. I don't see what the critics are crying about.
The acting was fine. Was Will Smith giving an Oscar performance? No, and he shouldn't. The movie isn't about his character. He's playing a supporting role. This movie was about the son, who carried the movie by himself fine. If Will Smith had turned it up to his normal ability, his presence would have overshadowed the performance of his son and stolen the show. This would have been bad.
The movie is visually beautiful, the effects are believable, and I liked the organic look of the technology used by humans in the future.
The story is very simple. It's a coming of age tale with father/son dynamic, a simple plot, a satisfying ending, and there's no plot twist which is perfectly fine because not every Shyamalan move has to have one.
I liked it a lot. It's a shame it didn't do well because I'd like to see more of this sort of thing.

And you can't see what the critics are complaining about?
Probably my top movie of this year; granted, the desolation of Smaug and Thor 2 haven't come out, but still. I loved it. <3
