Civilization V error

I've gotten this every time I attempt to bring up Civ V



And when I select DirectX 9, this happens



I haven't played the game in months and I hurt

HELP ME

Note: I've tried reinstalling, shifting around files, and all kinds of things, all to no avail

Try these in this order, and test after each item:

• 1): Reinstall C++ library: go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v\VCRedist\ --> Right-click vcredist_x86.exe --> run as administrator.
  
  2): Reinstall DirectX: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v\DirectX ->Right-click DXSetup.exe --> run as administrator
  
  3): If you can, set the screen resolution to whatever your screen's native resolution is. If you need help with this one
  
  4): Adjust your user settings ini file to skip intro video: C:\Users\<User name here>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\usersettings.ini --> right-click --> edit --> find the line with "SkipIntroVideo = 0" and replace it with "SkipIntroVideo = 1"
  
  5): Adjust your user settings ini file to skip intro video: C:\Users\<User name here>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\GraphicsSettingsDX9.ini --> right-click --> edit --> find the line with "FullScreen = 1" and replace it with "FullScreen = 0"

For the record, has it ever actually worked on your computer before?

Oh yeah, I've logged a good 150 hours on this computer. It never particularly ran smoothly, especially late into into a round, but it always functioned well enough. I believe it was after some cruddy Steam update that it went awry.

I did everything listed, but alas, to no avail. At this rate I think I'll probably have to just wait until I get a new computer that can run it reasonably. Thanks for your help, though. For at least a moment I felt like the master of this beast. @__@

Well, it's going to be a month down the road before I have enough for a new computer. Only then will Civ V be mine again.

BUT YOU WILL BE THE FIRST TO KNOW WHEN THAT HAPPENS. AND ALSO MATTHIAS.

Just be glad that you now CAN'T play Civ V instead of having to try and stop playing Civ V
Same thing happened to me with WoW, and I am so glad my laptop messed up at the time. Saved me potentially hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars playing that game.
