I like to think of the '90s as music's "awkward phase"

Likewise, most of my favourite albums were released in the 90s from the likes of NOFX, Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, Bad Religion, Placebo, Boogie Down Productions, Underworld, Manic Street Preachers, etc... The 90s were a great time for electronic music as well, as hardcore in the early 90s started fusing the synths of late 80s acid house with breakbeats and pitched up vocals, and meanwhile the minimalistic sounds of trance were starting to take root. Hardcore led to jungle, gaining prominence in the mid 90s, then jungle led to the cavernous atmospherics and sparser beats of drum n bass in the late 90s. Not to mention the hard trance getting popular in the late 90s, and the techno sound being pushed by people like Richie Hawtin... I love 90s music.

buuut I'm guessing that C$ was referring more to the pop music of the time... Ace of Base and such.

It's catchy stuff, but (imo) most of it hasn't exactly aged well. I like this one though, especially since I heard the instrumental of it paired with a dancehall reggae vocal... what a surreal combination. XD
