AOE online

Postby glamdring » Thu Mar 24, 2011 7:40 pm

So I started playing the closed beta of Age of Empires Inline today. I'm still not sure how I feel it's a little too animated looking for AOE but it seems fun. I have yet to play enough ti fined out how much the MMO ties into the game, I have found small things but nothing major for MMO yet. How the game stands now i wouldn't pay monthly for it, but I believe I would pay a one time fee for it. Unfortunately I'm not suppose to tell any one to much because i had to agree to a NDA before getting into the closed beta.

I kinda like how the technology is researched.unlocked at your capital so you have to level up and choose what you want to research. It makes people use more skill and make smarter choices to their game play, because they can't have everything.

I love AO series, I hope they stay true to it's roots

Inside the quests/pvp it seems to be similar to the original games. You have a capital that's your home city and you can expand/"beautify" with new buildings. Per level you get some points you can spend to research/unlock technology, but in quests/pvp you still have to research/level up those items like normal AOE. I haven't done any pvp yet so I'm not sure how much is different, my biggest disappointment so far is how animated it is.

Honestly my favorite was always Empire Earth. I never played the newest one, but the fact that it's so animated looking put me off.
