Thank you Super Spin Digital for sending us a review code!
Spin Rhythm XD is a new and upcoming rhythm game that has a thriving community and a lot of fans. It also has an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam and I can see why. This title launched in Early Access in 2019 and has had frequent updates and implemented many suggestions from their spinner community.
The game’s concept is easy to learn, but hard to master. Thankfully, Spin Rhythm XD starts you off on the easier modes and lets you up the ante when you feel ready. On launch, this game came out with sixty electronic dance music tracks and they’re available as a volume 1 soundtrack for $9.99. That tells me that there will be more tracks incoming and I look forward to checking them out.
On the Easy difficulty, you just have to worry about spinning the wheel to match the blue and red dots and pressing the button on the rectangle objects. There are also moments where you have to spin the wheel in designated directions.
Strong Points: Fun and challenging rhythm game with an excellent soundtrack and mesmerizing visuals
Weak Points: The editor interface has a bit of a learning curve
Moral Warnings: The female deejay wears form-fitting clothes
The Normal difficulty adds holds and a scratch mode that requires you to spin the wheel back and forth as needed. Hard difficulty throws beats in and you’ll have to often activate them in the middle of spins. The final difficulty, XD, has beat holds. You’ll earn Steam achievements for attempting the final two difficulties.
As you complete the tracks and gain experience, you’ll unlock more songs and can customize the appearance of the music track and spin wheel. There are male and female deejay characters and the female character is wearing form-fitting clothes. I didn’t run into any other moral issues, but that may change as music tracks are added.
I ran into no stability issues and Spin Rhythm XD runs great on the Steam Deck too.

The visuals are mesmerizing and this game is well polished. I found that the track editor was a little overwhelming. Luckily, there’s a video guide on how to use the editor. It’s worth noting that the music files have to be in OGG Vorbis format.
I enjoyed the music track selection and I have wishlisted the soundtrack DLC in case it goes on sale. Unfortunately, there are only eleven tracks included, so there will be many upcoming soundtrack collections to buy at $9.99 apiece.
If you enjoy rhythm games, Spin Rhythm XD is absolutely worth checking out. As far as I can tell, this game is pretty family-friendly, so that’s refreshing. I look forward to more offerings from Super Spin Digital.
