It’s made by the makers of GTR. The physics and sound effects are quite realistic too. Just like GTR, each car has it’s own feel and uses real sound recordings made by that car. So if you ever wanted to hear how an older Ferrari or a Lamborghini sounded, this game may be for you.

Game Modes

There are three game modes to choose from. Quick Race is your casual racing game. This mode has five difficulty levels. (beginner, novice, amateur, semi-pro, and professional). The harder the difficulty the more damage your car can take and the less computer assists. Semi-Pro and Simulation are more like the races you see on TV. There are lots of other racers, you can also encounter various weather conditions etc. It’s pretty realistic.

What kind of cars do I get to race?

There are ninety five cars you can aquire, you only start off with two though (Austin Mini Cooper S and Lotus Cortina). To get more cars you’ll have to buy them from a dealer (15-150K) or earn them in cup challenges. There are 23 cup challenges to compete in. You can race cars such as the Porsche 911RSR, Ferrari 275 GTB/C, Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar E-Type, AC Cobra, Ford GT40, Shelby Daytona Coupe, etc. Each has their own feel; some have more control than others, so try them all!

Is it replayable?

Playing against the AI is pretty challenging. There is multiplayer support where you can race against fifteen of your friends. There is online play as well but when I went online there were only ten people online.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are pretty good. The cars look great and the tracks look nice too. The sky and the trees look realistic. The 3D graphics look better than GTR in my opinion.

Sound

This game has superb sound effects. Each car has it’s own unique sounds. The music is really fitting, the menu has 70’s swanky music and the rest of the game has rock and smooth guitar music. You can add your own MP3 files and it will play them in the game randomly for you!

Bugs/Annoyances

This game has some issues worth mentioning. The sound seems to stutter at times. This game has even hard locked my PC (with stuttering sound) a couple times. I will be upfront and say that I do have my system over clocked but it plays other games and handles cpu stress tests flawlessly. According to their website they recommend turning off AGP fast writes but my system is running PCI-Express. There are no patches to address this issue (yet).

Appropriateness

This is a racing game and is completely clean in all respects.

Final Thoughts

I must admit this game seems pretty realistic. Then again I have never raced before so I have no expertise in this area. As a racing game it’s fun and the multiplayer has potential. I just hope to see more people online since it’s always better to race real people instead of the computer. However the computer AI is pretty good as well. I highly recommend GT Legends for those who enjoy playing and watching races.
