It can also be configured to use a joystick or the keyboard number pad. The purpose of this game is to get people to exercise and to have some fun doing it. This game is reasonably priced at $7.99. You can also get a bundle version that comes with a dance pad and USB adapter for $26.99. (Shipping only available in the US at this time.) There is a demo and a browser based version you can try to get a feel of the game before buying it. The demo is limited to five levels and the browser version is limited to keyboard play only.

Game Play

The game play is fairly simple. There are eight different small doors that weasels may try to sneak through. You control the chickens in the barn, and when you see a weasel, you have to move the eggs out of their reach. You move the eggs by hitting the appropriate button that maps to the on-screen door, which tells the chickens to save that basket of eggs. You usually have two doors opening at a time, so you will find yourself jumping around a lot trying to hit the right ones each time. As you gain levels, the weasels get faster, so it does get tricky after a while. You have ten lives and you lose a life for each egg that is taken. There are five difficulty levels: very easy, easy, medium, hard, and very hard. There are no multiplayer options in this game.

Controls

This game is meant to be played with a USB dance pad. It comes with a joystick mapping utility, but a USB dance pad is automatically configured. You will be using the diagonal buttons as well as the standard up, down, left, and right arrows. I had no trouble using my veggie tales dance pad.

Sound

The sound effects are cute and the back ground music changes with each level. The music was catchy and didn’t get irritating. You can disable the sound effects or the music.

Graphics

The graphics are cartoon-like and the animations of the chickens and weasels are cute but repetitive. The game font is unique; I like it, but it can be a little hard to read at times.

Stability

I had no problems with this game crashing on me. The only trouble I ran across was having my USB joystick and the USB dance pad plugged in at the same time. Once I unplugged my joystick, the dance pad worked like a champ.

Appropriateness

This game is perfectly clean; it’s very similar to whack-a-mole but no animals get injured.

Final Thoughts

I like the idea of this game and it’s really cute. The price is very fair, but there is really not much replay value other than beating your old high scores or playing again at harder difficulty levels. As for the exercise portion of it, yeah I got to move around, but I didn’t break quite the sweat I normally do while playing DDR, or at least on standard or higher difficulties. The concept is nice and the game is squeaky clean so no complaints there.
