Call of Duty

Overview
Experience the dramatic intensity of the frontlines through the eyes of common soldiers in this gritty and epic WWII first-person action game. As different characters from multiple sides of the Allied forces, players get a sense for the true scope of wartime action as they heed the call of duty by enlisting as a U.S. soldier, British trooper and Russian infantry all in the pursuit of toppling the evil aspirations of Nazi Germany. Call of Duty delivers the gritty realism and cinematic intensity of World War II\'s epic battlefield moments like never before - through the eyes of citizen soldiers and unsung heroes from an alliance of countries who together helped shape the course of modern history. Play through the chaos of battle as part of a well-trained squad, that lays down covering fire and pulls its wounded to safety. In addition to authentic squad movements and tactics, each soldier\'s distinct personality and training comes out on the battlefield. *
Gameplay
Very, very fun. There are twenty-four missions over four campaigns. Each mission is very creative and exciting. Some missions are extremely difficult, and take many tries to complete. The hardest missions have you defending Pegasus Bridge in Normandy and a house in Russia.
Graphics
Very good. Some areas are not that great, but they are still good. The buildings, characters, weapons, and everything else are great. You don\'t have to have that powerful of a video card to run it, either. Though I highly recommend a 64MB or greater card to run it.
Sound
Very good. I say this is one of the best parts of the game, besides the gameplay. The voiceovers are superb, and the weapon sounds were recorded by the actual type of weapon! Not many games have sound this great. The vehicle sounds are very good, and extremely believable.
Weapons
Many weapons. You can pick up almost every weapon you run into. There are twenty-two weapons in all. You also get to command a very big weapon, a tank, in (I believe) two Russian missions. Like I said in the \'Sound\' section, the sounds the guns make are authentic.
Longevity
Sadly, this is a short game. It took me two weeks to beat it. This game is very difficult, though. Some missions took me about three hours to beat, and I am an avid gamer. Also, the missions are extremely entertaining. The longevity of this game is it\'s second greatest flaw.
Appropriateness
This is the game\'s greatest flaw. It is very violent because you get to club, shoot, and blow up German soldiers. Also, your squadmates are killed in many ways. Some are mowed down by machine-gun fire. Blood is in the game, but not much. Another bad thing is the language. This should have been rated for mild language because in every mission there are at least two profanities. In the British campaign, the longest B word is used at least three times. Also, there are Swastikas in the game. This may be offensive to some. I would NOT let anyone under twelve play this. That is only my personal opinion, though.
Multiplayer
Very good. There are several modes of play. You can play as either a soldier of the Allied forces, or a soldier of the Axis forces. Sadly, Italians were not included as Axis forces in the game. Depending on the map, you can be either American, British, or Russian. In example, being an Ally on a map like Bocage would make you an American soldier. Playing on a map like Depot would make you a British soldier, and playing on a Russian map as an Ally would make you a Russian soldier.

The modes of play are: Behind Enemy Lines - A very small team of Allied soldiers is outnumbered and surrounded by Axis soldiers behind enemy lines. Allied players gain points by staying alive and by killing as many Axis players as possible. An Axis player who kills an Allied player respawns as an Allied player for a chance to score even more points. Retrieval - In this timed, round-based, team oriented mode, one team must locate and retrieve crucial documents from the enemy and return the documents to their safe zone (represented as a blue box on the compass). The defending team must hold the enemy off until the time runs out. The attacking team gains points for successfully retrieving the documents. The defending team gains points for keeping the documents safe for duration of the round. Either team can win by simply eliminating all enemies on the map. Search & Destroy - In this timed, round-based, team oriented mode, a team must destroy one of several objectives on the map while the other team strives to defend the objectives. The attacking team wins points for successfully destroying objectives. The defending team wins points for keeping all objectives intact for the duration of the round. Either team can win by eliminating all enemies on the map. Deathmatch - It\'s \'every man for himself.\' Points are awarded for kills, and the first player to either reach the score limit (set by the server administrator) or have the most points when the time runs out is the victor. Team Deathmatch - Same as deathmatch, but with teams. *
