SURANGAMA Next Fest Demo Features Stylish Cyberpunk Horror Combat
SURANGAMA hits Steam Next Fest with debut demo featuring fast-paced skill-based combat and showcasing the dark and twisted world of Diyu and its evil hordes
HONG KONG - February 26, 2026 - Independent game developer SUZAKU Games is pleased to announce SURANGAMA, a hybrid survival horror and character action title with style. Bringing together inspirations from cyberpunk and Cantonese folklore--specifically with a unique and twisted spin on Diyu, a Chinese-Buddhist vision of hell--SURANGAMA follows protagonist Tse Li Li, a rookie security guard who gets physically dragged into hell by the enraged spirit of a murdered woman. She must traverse the five realms of suffering and punishment while battling hordes of relentless malformed souls and epic bosses to escape, all while uncovering mysteries from her past. The game's fast-paced combat rewards skill over grinding, inspired by the likes of Ninja Gaiden Black and Omnimusha, and players can get a taste of the elaborate combo and time-based combat systems in a newly-released demo as a part of Steam Next Fest:

"We've spent over a year developing this demo," comments the SUZAKU Games development team. "The combo-based combat system that deliberately punishes defensive play and rewards offense feels pretty unique and took us some time to refine. Pairing this with survival horror inventory and exploration, fights feel a lot more desperate, much like classic Hong Kong action movies that inspired us. For those curious about our inspirations, we recommend classic Tokusatsu and Hong Kong action and horror cinema such as Peacock King, The Cat, and Keita Amemiya's films along with games like Stellar Blade, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Onimusha 2. Fast, fluid and punishing gameplay with old-school charm is what we are aiming for, so we hope players enjoy it!"
SURANGAMA follows SUZAKU Game's previous title, Good Night Pan Pan, which players can enjoy while they wait for SURANGAMA. The game is planned for release on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store in early 2028. Additional platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch, are planned depending on the studio's ability to raise funds and optimize the game.
