A Second Jail Cell Opens. Pluto’s Demo Expands Today
PROSPECT, Ky — Feb. 23, 2026 — A second jail cell has been unlocked. The updated Pluto demo is live today for Steam Next Fest, introducing a new playable wizard, a new zone, new enemies, and a wide range of features ahead of the full launch on March 9, 2026.
Pluto is a darkly comic roguelike deckbuilder about a wizard fighting through cursed ruins and grotesque creatures in a race to make it to his niece’s birthday party. Developed by two independent creators at Siege Wizard Interactive, with art by acclaimed 2D artist Ditch Witch and published by indie.io, the game blends turn-based deckbuilding with a tactile spellcasting system built around overlapping gestures and improvised combinations. Players construct spells directly using sigils on the wizard’s fingers, turning every encounter into an experiment that can go very right or very wrong.
The update introduces The Magus as a second playable character, joining the Apprentice. A new character select screen, new Gifts for both wizards, new events to trade and modify spells, and a new zone called the consecrated Sewer expand the experience. Goblins and Snails now crowd the depths, alongside a host of newly hired foes.
New music and sound deepen the atmosphere, while large performance improvements, saving and loading, controller and Steam Deck support, an updated tutorial, and additional lore in the Knowitorium round out the update. The demo also includes quality of life improvements, new art, and a clearer glimpse of the full release arriving in just two weeks.
The original demo drew a strong response from players. It currently holds a 99% positive rating on Steam with over 250 reviews. More than 20,000 players have tried the demo so far, spending an average of around one hour and twenty minutes per session.
Pluto launches on PC via Steam on March 9, 2026, for $17.99 with a 20% launch discount, and can also be purchased at the indie.io Store.
