Following the chart-topping RPG’s mobile launch with over 3M downloads, Akatsuki Games’ hit anime-based game is heading to Steam
TOKYO — September 17, 2025 — Akatsuki Games Inc., TOHO CO., LTD., and Production I.G, Inc. today announced that their Kaiju-Slaying Battle RPG KAIJU NO. 8 THE GAME will arrive on Steam for PC on October 1, 2025. Released on the App Store and Google Play on August 31, the game reimagines Naoya Matsumoto’s celebrated manga and anime with massive kaiju battles, turn-based combat, character development, original storylines with full voice acting, and striking visuals. KAIJU NO. 8 THE GAME is free-to-play with in-app purchases.
Upon its mobile release last month, KAIJU NO. 8 THE GAME quickly reached the #1 ranking on the App Store charts for role-playing, adventure, and free-to-play games, and surpassed three million downloads.

Choose from Three Different Story Modes: The game offers an original “Main Story” branching from the manga and anime, “Memories” which allows players to revisit classic moments, and “Character Stories” to explore the relationships and interactions between team members. Main Story: Follow original characters from the Closing Order with Zero Restrictions (CLOZER), a special unit led by Sagan Shinomiya, the non-blood-related older sister of Kikoru Shinomiya.
