Big news from the boneyard: auto-battle dungeon crawler Skull Horde now has a playable demo on Steam ahead of a full release later in 2025!

Developed by indie dev 8BitSkull, in Skull Horde, you’re a flying skull necromancer on a quest for revenge, commanding a loyal army of undead to do your bidding. In roguelike runs that take approximately 20 minutes to complete, charge through procedurally generated dungeons, unlocking powerful perks and strategically purchasing new units to build your squad.

Your pettiness and power know no bounds as you fight back against your own flesh and blood after it betrayed you and forced you underground. Channel your unbridled rage into something creative (necromancy), by selecting units based on special abilities that work together best, merging them into ultra-mega-strong versions of themselves, and using loot found in the dungeons to give yourself a tactical edge.

The Skull Horde demo currently features one full run (based in the Sewer biome) without meta progression. However, the demo is highly replayable and features more units, loot, and possible builds than you can shake a bone at.

The Skull Horde demo is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), and Simplified Chinese.

Key Features of Skull Horde:

No Body? No Problem!: Stunt on the haters (your own body) as one of multiple playable characters with unique special abilities, including the option of being a floating skull.

Super Soldier Squad: Turn your army into the finest assortment of expendable minions that money can buy, combining loot found in the dungeons to gain great advantages, and merging multiple units to make them stronger.

Procedurally Generated Dungeons: No two dungeons are alike and each level features a variety of enemy types, ensuring that builds must be tinkered and tweaked to overcome their attacks. Unique challenges that reward new unlocks and content will also keep you on your skele-toes.

Skull Horde will be released on PC via Steam in 2025, with Steam Deck and Linux support.
