Prepare for punishment: Brutal survival sim SCUM leaves Early Access today
Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, Zagreb, Croatia. 10 years in the making and following more than 250 updates, tweaks and gameplay improvements, brutal PvPvE open-world survival sim SCUM has officially left Early Access today and is now available in 1.0 on Steam.
Drop onto SCUM island this summer to test your skills in a deadly fight for survival, featuring unmatched realism and deeply complex survival mechanics. Traverse punishing environments as a solo supermax prisoner or squad together online with up to 64 players per server, using strategic planning, resource management and adaptability to survive an extreme PvPvE open world.
Introduced in today’s 1.0 update, SCUM has received a full map rework, featuring a major graphical overhaul that provides vastly improved visuals, enhanced performance and more immersive environments. An improved anti-cheat solution also ensures a vastly improved gameplay experience for everybody playing on official servers.
Also available with the SCUM 1.0 update, new and returning modes of transport have landed on the island, including the arrival of the Seaplane, Tractor, and Sports Bike, providing a new means of travel and escape from any unwanted encounters. The introduction of armed NPCs also provides a new threat – and possible rewards – to survivors, as new enemy hostiles engage players at range and add extra looting opportunities.
