Critically acclaimed pixel-art prison RPG ‘Back to the Dawn’ escapes Early Access on July 18 with a new story arc, fresh quests, and a limited-time launch discount.
June 12, 2025, Singapore - Indie publisher Spiral Up Games has announced that their highly-anticipated prison survival RPG, Back to the Dawn, will break out of Steam Early Access on July 18th for $19.99, with a 15% discount down to $16.99 for the first week.
An immersive prison escape simulation, Back to the Dawn puts players in the role of Thomas the Fox, an investigative journalist framed and incarcerated for getting too close to the truth of a government conspiracy. Stepping into a maximum-security facility, potential escapees will discover a world where every inmate has a past, a personality, and a plan. Fighting to survive, investigate and ultimately break free is the name of the game, or stay locked in forever when time runs out to escape.
In the full release of Back to the Dawn, players will experience the brand-new Black Panther storyline, which introduces Bob the Black Panther, an undercover cop, and adds multiple new quests and areas to Boulderton Prison. Featuring a dark tone, morally grey dilemmas and unforgettable setpieces, the Black Panther Arc revamps Back to the Dawn and gives players, both first-time and returning, a grand, new story to experience.
This new storyline adds on to what is already a critically acclaimed Steam release (92% positive), currently providing players with an engrossing role-playing journey that combines vibrant pixel art with a suspenseful and thrilling prison life simulation. Playing as a wrongfully imprisoned journalist, players must navigate the twists and turns of prison politics, while developing essential skills for their daring escape.
Back to the Dawn is officially available on Steam Early Access with a 92% rating in English, Chinese and Japanese.
