“DOGPOOL” AND PAWS CHICAGO TEAM UP FOR FAN EXPO CHICAGO
Canine Star Supports Efforts to Find Pets Loving Homes Alongside Fandom’s Biggest Celebration August 15 - 17
Chicago, Illinois (May 28, 2025) – British Pugese dog Peggy, whose portrayal of “Dogpool” in DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE elevated her to global stardom, is set to join FAN EXPO Chicago for this year’s show, running August 15 - 17, 2025 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. The convention, known as fandom’s biggest celebration, has partnered with PAWS Chicago, with $5 from each pawtograph and photo op with Peggy going to the organization.
Born in 2018 as the runt of an accidental litter, Peggy is a cross between a Pug and a Chinese Crested Dog, also known as a Pugese. At six months old, she was adopted by Holly Middleton, who named the future star after her great-grandmother. In 2023, Middleton entered Peggy into an ugly dog competition, where she wowed the judges and was named Britain’s Ugliest Dog. Her success attracted widespread news coverage, leading to her winning the role of “Dogpool” in 2024’s DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE, opposite Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Peggy is nominated for a 2025 Fidos Award for her work on the film.
Peggy is known for her charitable side, wanting to make a difference in the lives of pets wherever she travels. She is partnering with PAWS Chicago for her FAN EXPO Chicago visit, and will donate $5 from each pawtograph and photo op to the organization, one of the largest comprehensive no kill animal welfare organizations in the nation.
“Bark, bark bark,” said Peggy. “Bark bark bark woof woof arf bark.”
(English translation: “I’m not just a pretty face - I’m raising cash for my canine comrades at PAWS Chicago. I love meeting my fans and giving my pawtograph, and treats. Mostly treats.”)
Peggy joins previously announced celebrity guests including STAR WARS icons Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen; PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and THE LORD OF THE RINGS star Orlando Bloom; Oscar-winning actor Brendan Fraser; FLASHDANCE star Jennifer Beals; THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT’s Ming-Na Wen; CLUELESS star Alicia Silverstone; THE GOOD PLACE and THE ACOLYTE’s Manny Jacinto; THE FLASH stars Grant Gustin, Danielle Panabaker, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, and Tom Cavanagh; comedian Rob Schneider; TWILIGHT fan favorites Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli; and DOCTOR WHO’s Catherine Tate, Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill; with more guest announcements to come; at this year’s FAN EXPO.
