Prayers for some Friends

One of my parents' close friends, Dave West, was found by his wife collapsed in his house in the midst of repairing something (it had only been a few minutes since she had left him). He was helicoptered to the nearest large city and has been unconscious and heavily sedated since then. His heart stopped a total of seven times before they got him stabilized. They are slowly lifting the sedation, and the next 24 hours they said are "critical". His poor wife is asking for as many prayers as possible; especially for him not to have any brain damage. Beyond his wife, he also has 3 kids (one in high school, the other 2 in their 20s) and he's only in his early 50s.

Please keep the Wests in your prayers, especially fervent for the next few days as things develop. I will let you know how things turn out.

They lifted the sedatives, but he never woke up, so they took him to be scanned by an MRI machine. I don't know all the minor details, but there is... very little-to-no brain activity. He has been transferred to hospice, it's just a matter of days now.

Please continue to keep this poor family (the Wests) in your prayers in the months to come. He was the primary breadwinner in the family, and again one of their kids is still in high school and not out of the house. Pray for his wife Diana especially, they never got to say goodbye.

I know we all know this in the back of our minds, but also take this as another cautionary tale not to take anything for granted. There were no signs that something was wrong with David West's heart, or any other health problems. It just happened suddenly last Wednesday, and that's it. Hug your loved ones extra tightly tonight; we never know when they will be taken to be with the Lord.

As was now expected, he passed today. Pray especially hard for his wife Diana, and his youngest son who is a senior in high school and now has to deal with his dad dying in addition to all the usual stresses of transitioning from high school to college soon.
