RTS Iron Harvest has the most successful video game Kickstarter in a long time

Postby ccgr » Mon Apr 16, 2018 5:56 pm

Iron Harvest, the classic RTS for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One set in the alternate reality of 1920+, collected over $1,530,000 in its crowdfunding campaign over the last 5 weeks ($1,298,726 on Kickstarter plus an additional $232,261 via KING Art’s own store).

This makes it the most successful Kickstarter in almost a year.

Iron Harvest March 2018 $1,298,626
The Cyanide & Happiness Adventure Game September 2017 $575,377
Re:Legend July 2017 $630,700
Pathfinder Kingmaker June 2017 $909,057
Aches of Creation May 2017 $3,271,809

Iron Harvest has been the fourth successful Kickstarter campaign for developer KING Art Games. While boardgames have seen a steep increase in pledges, collecting multiple times as much as video games in recent years, video games have struggled to obtain large-scale funding on the platform, as a recent analysis shows (see Kickstarter in 2017 - In depth look at the Games category).

Jan Theysen, Creative Director at indie developer KING Art Games: "It has been a risk to ask for so much money for a new IP on Kickstarter in this day in age. But we knew we had a strong product and a sizable RTS community yearning for the next big RTS. So we took a chance and couldn’t be happier. For us, this success is an obligation to make Iron Harvest the best game it can be."

The game can still be supported at the Iron Harvest Website - http://www.iron-harvest.com/

Iron Harvest takes place in the World of 1920+. It is an alternate version of our own world created by Polish artist Jakub Różalski. In the early 20th century, tradition clashes with progress, and the world is still full of mysteries and secrets.

Thanks to the Kickstarter, the game features:

Three playable factions with over 40 units types and 9 heroes
Three single player campaigns with an overarching story (21 missions)
Singleplayer & Coop skirmish matches
Single player & Coop challenge maps
Competitive multiplayer (ranked matches, seasons)
Free DLC
