What is the best level to mine diamonds

So, like you I want a lot of diamonds. Most people say level 11 is best for diamonds, but I mine lvl 7 and up as high as the pick will reach (about level 12) I get lots of diamonds there. But, lava is an issue. What level do you like best?

I like mining at level 10 the best. Though I'll sometimes mine at level 11 as well.

I've always heard the best elevation for diamonds is 15-16.
