Yeah I actually stopped playing the Disney Crossy Road game because I wasn't sure if the bubble capsule machine constituted as well...Gambling or not. I had the same issue with the figure machine in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

I would view it simply as this - are you putting real-world money into a game of chance that could give you more money back? If there is no real-world money at stake, then it's simply a game, and not gambling at all. Others may disagree, but that's how I perceive it.

It's only gambling if you risk loosing something for the thrill or greed of it. Even simulated "proper" gambling for fun (though I don't know why you'd bother) is fine because you can't loose anything.

You know what's sad? Half of the games at Chuck E Cheese are gambling where you hope to earn more tickets by pulling a lever or hitting a button at the perfect time etc. We only let out kids play games that require skill.
I haven't played Crossy Road (my kids do) from what I've seen it's like Frogger. Will have to check on the gambling aspect you speak of

I wouldn't say it's gambling, because you don't risk losing anything. When you put your in-game money into the machine that distributes characters, you are guaranteed to get a new character no matter what. It's true that you can receive very valuable characters with the same amount of money, but that's just like a modified loot system similar to the ones in role-playing games. I'd say it would be gambling if there was a chance to receive duplicate characters, because then it would be a waste of money, in-game or real life (whatever you use). Since this is not the case, I do not think that it is gambling.

You're probably right, I haven't played in a while. In the time that I have played, however, I haven't run into any duplicates.

never thought about it that way especial Chuck E Cheeses. Im thinking no because your not putting money into it only effort (if tapping on a screen counts as effort) you could think of it as working for the game, and your employer may or may not pay you with a new character.
yes i know im weird

I may not be thinking 100% right on this topic, but I figured I'd share my opinion.
As far as I know, gambling isn't a sin. When it's called gambling, then there is a 99.9% chance it's a stupid thing to do, but when you look outside of casinos and bets, it starts getting a little muddled. If you view it as favoring one outcome happening, and willing to bet on it, then isn't insurance gambling? Your betting something bad will happen to you, and the risk of some money now will pay off big time in the future.
It can also be extended to other areas too. Time, houses, relationships, and lives are possible to be gambled away too. Even choosing God can be a gamble of your own life. We shouldn't be completely afraid of risks, because some risks are worth taking. It should be a case by case evaluation.
Besides, what is the difference between gambling in Crossy Roads and choosing to flat out buying a character if availabl, besides the risk? Most of the time gambling is bad because it's considered a waste of money, an unnecessary risk, and is compulsive?
I might be wasting money buying a game may or may not like, that may or may not be playable 20 years from now. Plus a solar flare may wipe out all tech one day, it happens every 11 years. There are people prepping for that outcome

Forgot to say, to each, what their conscience tells them. If you don't feel comfortable, don't force yourself
The game is gayer than aids and everyone who plays it is going to hell. Newfags cant even triforce....
