Apparently, the United Nations has said that taking your child to church violates their human rights. One article about it can be found here.

The UN's approach seems to be directed primarily at the U.K. (hmm... reaction to Brexit, perhaps?) but it serve as another indicator to me that the U.S. needs to get out of the UN. But that's just me. In my opinion, now more than ever, children need some form of moral guidance, and the government or pop culture sure isn't providing it. Not a healthy one, at least.

In any case, what do you think about it?

They can raise their children their way and I'll raise mine as I see fit. They've never been that great of a moral compass anyway so I'm honestly not too surprised.

While I agree that the U.N. has no business making these kinds of statements, it's fair to point out that they seem to be talking about some kind of U.K. law that requires church attendance.

"The committee recommended that the government "repeal legal provisions for compulsory attendance at collective worship." Its recommendations are not legally binding."

So while I agree that a government has no right to impose that kind of legislation, the U.N. looks like a bunch of doorknobs worrying about this in a world where true human rights violations run rampant.

I'm hardly an expert, but using my deductive reasoning along with my UK citizenship and knowledge as a teacher; this is probably more towards the point that if a child attend's a faith school they are not required to practice that faith. If that is the reasoning, then why have their child attend a school of a faith you do not believe in, other than convenient in location (which is the main reason for attendance anyway).
