Theory on Earthbound's Boss.

So, Spoilers for a game that's like 25 years old. Also might be a bit...Grim?
Giygas is fought in his "most vulnerable form". AKA, unborn. And you see Ness' face, as if it was a reflection, before the fight, On Giygas.
People theorizes he might have been Ness's unborn twin, but I have another theory.
Is Giygas Ness?
You never see Giygas before the end, he is mentioned though, but it makes it seem like he is going to arrive.
However, consider this. If this was not a warning of arrival from afar, but realization of strength, and becoming Giygas. Ness is inheriting a MASSIVE reserve of energy, and his powers steadily grow for quite some time.
- Giygas uses some of Ness' attacks in the final battle...
Perhaps why the time travel is so hazardous, is that Ness couldn't come back if he won, because he wouldn't be born. Sure, you can go to locales after the final battle, but remember Ness' scrapbook? What if, theoretically, this event would place Ness in either A, a loop of time, due to paradox, or B. nonexistence, with only a scrapbook of his life to remember the world by...Remembering the world, imaging what he could have done. Remember the credits? Photos, in what is normal for credits sometimes: a black void with letters, but still...Photos in a void.
This also fits some with a...Certain theory that is prevalent about a recently popular game. *cough* Sans. *Cough*
