I've recently installed the latest Ubuntu release on my Samsung Ultrabook, and it flies! I love it.
Does anyone have any insights on whether Minecraft has issues running on this OS?

I hadnt had any issues with it when I was running Ubuntu 12.04. It does fly too. I had to get rid of the Unity Desktop Environment though, it was causing lag for me.

You should also get rid of Unity because's it's awful.

KDE FTW. Heck, I'd just drop Debian-based Linux altogether. >_>
Minecraft on Linux works fine. Just don't try to be clever on a Unix environment unless you know what you're doing.

I have never actually tried any Linux before..
Sorry. I'm sure you got answers from others already. ^^
Maybe one day I should try it too.
