The Return of Bill Watterson

Apparently, Bill Watterson did a few guest strips for Pearls Before Swine.

If you don't know who Bill Watterson is, he's the guy who wrote the legendary Calvin and Hobbes. If you still don't know, I'm going to go cry in the corner while ArchAngel has a word with you....

You can read about it - and see links to the strips - on Stephan Pastis' blog right here.

I... I think I just had a religious experience.

I don't know if I can be an atheist anymore. I think I'm a Watterite.
That's my next religion in Civilization, at lease.

Wow! I had no idea that hapened, but I love the little tidbits they dropped in. I wouldn't have caught the Libby bit, but I love the jab about needing more space. The martian attack is very reminiscent of Spaceman Spiff, who I do in fact prefer over Tracer Bullet. And Libby finally leaving, for the magical world to explore.
Man, nostalgia just socked me right in the gut. And I thanked it.

Sstavix, I am eternally grateful for you showing me this. I think I'm going to have to follow up with Pearls before Swine now.

I thought you especially would appreciate it. :)

And my wife keeps asking the same question - "Does this mean Bill Watterson is going to start doing Calvin and Hobbes again? Or something else, at least?"

We can only hope....

Rumors of a new project. I doubt it'll be Calvin and Hobbes, he certainly left us with a large enough treasure trove.

You know, I really wish he were more tech-savvy--or at least knew someone who could help him enough to get him started. He has a big beef with modern comic formats and their tiny panels, but imagine if he had the potentially unlimited space of a webcomic? Word of mouth alone would make it a hit.

He's at it again, this time doing a poster for an art show in France. It does make me wonder if he's contemplating a return to comics or writing, if he's starting to do more of these. One can hope....
