He seems a bit eccentric, but he isn't harming anyone. So I don't really see anything to it. I'd have more issues with those who beat him up because of his fashion choices (and, perhaps, the guy's political inclinations...).

But then again, keep in mind that I am of Scottish ancestry, and quite proud of it. So I don't have any issue with guys wearing skirts.... ;)

I don't see how this is news worthy.

I wouldn't do it myself, but to each his own. He should move to Austin, he'd be a celebrity here.

I find it unfortunate that he dresses like so.
In Deuteronomy it declares that, "...any man who wears woman's clothing is an abomination to the Lord and has committed an act of sin."
Deuteronomy 22:5

Using the old testament to justify what is sin is a bad idea. For example, Leviticus 19:19 reads, "You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together."

So that polyester cotton blend shirt? Sin.

Me too, much as I prefer straight cotton. And bacon. <_<

Mmm... bacon.... Uep, a pretty big no-no, according to Old Testament law.

Also cheeseburgers. Something about not cooking a calf in its mother's milk, according to some branches of Judaism.

So a bacon cheeseburger would definitely be out of the question!

Kind of makes you think about the differences between the Old and New Testaments, doesn't it? Or at least gets you thinking about bacon. Either way, it's interesting....

Gotta be careful about responding to an Old Testament quote by simply saying "Well we don't do all that stuff anymore."

I've known some Christians who simply ignore the Old Testament outright. My grandmother had a Bible that was just the New Testament, nothing else. I think that's a huge mistake.

It's true that many of the Old Testament laws were superseded by the Atonement, but that doesn't mean it's all null & void. Some discernment is in order.

This actually brings up an interesting topic of discussion. How much of the OT law are Christians required to follow? How do you determine which rules to follow and which not to follow?

That would be an awesome discussion, because I'm pretty sure we'd all have different answers.
