" Will Majora’s Mask be next?

May 2, in the year of our Lord 2013 – 2013 is looking to be a hugely exciting year for Zelda fans, as Nintendo has recently announced remakes of two of the most popular titles in the series. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is coming to the Wii U console later in the year and Zelda: A Link to the Past is to be released on the Nintendo 3DS. With both these reinvented versions of Zelda classics soon to be launched, many fans are now wondering – could The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask be next?

Nintendo has said that adding Zelda: Wind Waker to its growing list of Wii U games is designed to tide fans over until the next big Zelda title, details of which are completely unknown at the moment and may not be revealed until late 2013 or early 2014. Adding the remade Zelda: A Link to the Past to the Nintendo 3DS collection of titles, which already includes best-sellers like the Professor Layton games, seems like a similar measure designed to keep Zelda fans interested until something really big is finally ready for release. However, the demand amongst fans for glorious HD remakes of some of the most cleverly constructed and popular Legend of Zelda games could prompt Nintendo’s developers to consider reinventing Majora’s Mask in the meantime.

Fans are divided on the subject of which is the best ever Zelda game, although a 2007 poll of gamers, critics and industry experts named Ocarina of Time as the number one choice of all games, not just titles in the Zelda series. However, you’ll find that The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask makes it into the top three on many online lists, suggesting that it is more popular than originally thought.

Initially released for the Nintendo 64 console back in 2000, many consider Majora’s Mask to be one of the most underrated and overlooked of all Zelda titles. For starters, it was released in the shadow of Ocarina of Time and was a very different kind of game, causing many Zelda fans to steer clear. However, Majora’s Mask won deserved praise from game critics due to its complex and carefully plotted storyline, incredible design and impressive graphics, so perhaps it’s time that Majora’s Mask was brought back and given a fresh lick of paint. There has been a suggestion from the Nintendo camp that a remake could be on the cards but no definitive decision, but under enough pressure from eager fans – only God knows what could happen?

I would be incredibly geeked for a MM remake.

Beyond description.

I recall Nintendo saying that they where going to make a Majora's Mask remake/port for the 3DS,
but they wanted to release a brand new Zelda game for the 3DS first.
(Since the last Zelda game for the 3DS was an Ocarina of Time remake.)

When I heard they where going to make an HD remake of Wind Waker for the Wii U,
I was quite surprised that it was going to be the first Zelda game to get an HD remake.
(Not that I mind it, Wind Waker is my favorite after all, it's just not as old as the N64 games.)
(Thus not needing an HD remake as much.)

So I figured that they pick Wind Waker over Ocarina of time since Ocarina just had a remake not to long ago,
and I also figured they pick Wind Waker over Majora's Mask, since Nintendo was planning of doing a 3DS remake.

Though plans could change I suppose, ether way the N64 games are going to get a HD remake eventually. :P

I do not know if the author adds any possible credibility to it or not. But the PR firm wanted that author to be cited.

The contacted me about running exclusive stories with FFG, with exclusive content and features on Nintendo games. I am not clear how "in the know" they are with Nintendo UK.
