Ouya CEO at NVidia conference

I am vaguely disturbed by this Ouya news. Unfortunately I haven't found any corroboration on the internet. Every other site I'd look at (and some I normally wouldn't) just gets stuck on the 'we have to nail this' sound bite and doesn't get into the other bits mentioned in the above link. As though stating that 'we have to succeed with our first product' were somehow a profound bit of managerial wisdom.

Anyway. Has anyone seen any more details? Or comments, of course.

I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but it doesn't seem to good. Hope it doesn't fail, though.

The worry is that the Ouya won't get enough developers making games to make it successful.

I'm pretty positive that the 70/30 split is supposed to be 70 dev/30 ouya and that she flubbed it (it's not in the video, so I didn't hear it).
As for not including the Google Play platform, they potentially robbed themselves out of a free market of game right out of the bag. Maybe it was a good decision to try to keep it as a indie console instead of a phone game on your TV, so it really all depends how they can attract developers to their platform.

As I recall from some of the Kickstarter comments not running 'Play' (I can't stand that name) straight out of the box was part of the plan from early on. The assumption is that since it's a root-friendly device you'd be able to side load Play with minimal fuss. Whether Play would recognize it as being compatible with any given app is another question.

I hope the split is a mistake too. Between that and the filtering mentioned I'd be worried that devs might be less keen to try the market.
