Playstation 2/20/13 Discussion and Speculation

It's almost too obvious that this will be the day that the Playstation 4 will be revealed. As excited as I, and many others seem to be, I'm still worried that Sony might do something that can hurt the industry as a whole.

One of the main things being that games will use a one-time key, similar to how PC gaming works. I think it will hurt the industry as a whole, and turn a lot of people off from playing new games from developers that are trying to get known. If it wasn't for used games, there would have been a ton of games that I wouldn't have even tried because either the game wasn't being sold as new anymore, or because it would be too costly to see if the game is even good to begin with. I rarely trust reviews unless the website has a lot of credibility like Giantbomb (and of course, CCGR) or reviewers like Angry Joe. I heavily rely on rentals. Also, not to mention that it will kill many businesses and jobs.

Another thing I'm worried about is gimmicks. I enjoyed my Wii and it's features, but after a while I got sick of waggling my controller like a madman in Twilight Princess, and I felt like an idiot pretending like my Wiimote was an instrument. I don't have a 360, but the Kinect was something that has made me cringe the moment it was announced, not to mention caused a lot of laughter seeing people get upset that it wasn't working as advertised. Finally, the Sony Wiimote was bad from the get go, even though the technology was more advanced than the Wii, it was a horrible peripheral, and didn't sell very well.

Luckily enough, there is apparently a mobile ad campaign being sent out right now by Sony, that is mocking motion controls! Here's hoping that they stay far away from motion controls as possible, so we can all play video games in peace without being forced to do weird movements with our controllers or our bodies.

Also, the prototype for the new controller was leaked out today. Remember that it's a prototype and is most likely not the finalized controller. Rumors of it having a touch-pad on the front appear to be true.

Whatever gets announced on the 20th will shape the future of console gaming. I'd hate to be a fanboy, so I'm going to wait and see for Microsofts announcement as well, to be sure which console I'll jump to. If any of the above worries I have do become a reality, it will make my jump much easier. Although, admittedly so, I'm still leaning towards Playstation because I think Xbox Live isn't worth paying for, and I love Playstation Plus.

All of Sony's EULA's have a "guess who owns your soul now" clause in them.

>_>

<_<

:P

I don't think Sony really knows about your birthday, considering they're too busy running people's money with awesome consoles and horrible decision making. So I'll wish you a Happy Birthday.

I don't have an exclusive PS3 bundle to give you. But Happy Birthday!!!!! :D

I think Sony needs better marketing. There are a few titles that I felt were downers, but there is an amazing collection of exclusives that fit fans of every genre. I just don't think people even know about them.

Sony always has a slow start, though. They need a huge exclusive launch title for the PS4. Here's hoping that the awesome (yet bizzare) Moby Dick game is Metal Gear Solid 5. That'll definitely be a system seller for a ton of people. It's most likely Ground Zeroes, but I guess we'll just wait and see. :D
