I'll buy it eventually, but you can bet I won't be letting Activison get any of my money.

Exactly what type of hardcore we talking about here?

It looks cool, but I wish it was more futuristic (not to the Halo or Tribes level of sci-fi but something with more lasers

). A big reason why I stopped following COD is because they were all starting to feel the same, in terms of tech style.

Well, it'd be a bit odd for the characters to go from bullets to lasers in only a few years.

Tech would, realistically, be the same, since it stays within pretty much the same timeframe.
Myself, I have no qualms about handing Activision cash; I simply have no cash to give. XD Definitely putting it on my Christmas list though; I had a brainmelt when it popped up at E3. I just need to get the first one, since I'd like to play it too. Don't know if there's any continuity besides title, though.

It doesn't have to be the same characters. The series already jumped from Call of Duty 2 and 3 (WWII) to COD4 (Modern). That's a
very big jump.
And I've been wanting and expecting them to go to the future since Call of Duty 4 came out. Since it was obvious that they weren't tying the series down to any one particular time period.
Also, I think before Black Ops came out, I doubt anyone really followed the characters you were playing. So there's plenty of flexibility in terms of changing the characters to fit the time period.

I meant the Modern Warfare series, which did indeed retain the characters from the first game.

In the words of Joker from Arkham Asylum "Do you think I care about characters?! I just want my lasers!"

I reckon either this game will be absolutely amazing or will fail absolutely miserably. I probably won't get the game either way as I have never been much of a CoD fan and like shooters that involve a bit more RPG and thinking.
Speaking of which, judging by the trailers this game looks like it's going to be a huge Deus Ex: Human Revolution rip off, so I can't wait to see how it turns out.
