Sounds like a line from "Project Runway."

I've always been of the mindset that food should not cause pain. So if it's hurting you, you probably shouldn't be eating it.

Sadly, I couldn't tell you. At least in respect to consoles. We're still using one of those great big picture tube TVs. We've been talking about getting a new television with any money I get with the Christmas bonus... that is if there's anything left once we've caught up on bills we've been neglecting.

Lately, I have preferred gaming on my MBP, though, and it does have HD capabilities. So I can certainly see the appeal. A good game should have more going for it than just shiny graphics, though.

A point many gamers need to learn. I still love my 8-bit games that slow down with more than three or four enemies. <3

It's amusing that games getting harder as you progressed was actually due to a bug that did just this. You can read a little bit about it here. Thanks to a bug in Space Invaders, scaling difficulty in video games was created.

Is Christmasy! It can be OK to listen to around Christmas (NOT before Thanksgiving!), but year round, not so much.

Huh. That's awesome. XD I think it actually helped in some games, by slowing time a bit.

The world will always need arcades?

I would like to think so, but I think we're getting to the point where they are fading out.

I remember when arcades were like movie theaters. You could go there and play a brand new game and spend a ton of quarters there. If you liked the game enough, you could wait several months to a year and get the home version for your video game console. It's like seeing a movie in the theaters and then waiting for it to come out on VHS or DVD to add to your own home theater collection.

But the times are changing, indeed. Except for some of the classics and pinball machines, there doesn't seem to be the need to go to arcades any more. All the hot new games are coming out directly for the home market. I don't even know if the latest Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat games even had arcade cabinets (in the latter case, I suspect the answer is "no," just because of how excessively gruesome the game is). So I'm afraid that arcades may be gradually going away, aside from those put together by private collectors or those opened more as a museum rather than a showcase of the new hot titles.

So you live in Idaho, right?

I'm not planning a trip in the immediate future, but I do want to visit Idaho as part of visiting all the U.S. states. For that future trip, what cities/sights do you recommend?

Also, ever been to Rexburg? I interned with some guys from BYU Idaho (and BYU Provo) last year, and they said it got freakishly cold there in the winter. XD

Idaho has a nice variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, including skiing, camping, hunting and fishing. If you're interested in any of those, there's no shortage of places to check out! Schweitzer Mountain is an especially nice ski resort, if you're headed toward the northern part of the state.

If you're looking for history, there are plenty of neat things to see in Boise. They have a historical museum (which is currently closed for renovations, but should be opened in 2015). Boise also has a zoo, as well as a variety of other things to see and do.

Also, in regards to history, consider Lewiston (and, across the river, Clarkston in Washington state). Located at the intersection of the Clearwater and Snake rivers, this location marked one of the stops of the Lewis Clark journey to the Pacific. Lewiston was originally going to be the capital of Idaho until it was decided to make Boise the capital instead. It also is on the edge of the Nez Perce Indian Reservation - if you (or the people you're traveling with) are fans of "American Girls," you may recognize this tribe as the one where Kaya came from.

In terms of geographical sites, consider Hells Canyon, America's deepest river gorge. This is another place with a variety of recreational activities, including golf, fishing and rafting. Not only that, after you visit Hells Canyon, you can honestly boast that you've been "to Hell and back." ;)

So yeah, there's quite a few things in Idaho to do! Are there any interests in particular you had in mind?

Edit: I almost forgot your other question! No, I have never been to Rexburg. Actually, I don't think I've ever been to that part of the state. I may have to change that myself someday....

Well, I like museums and I love hiking trails (But I prefer easier ones, hardcore hiking would need some retraining). Especially if there's national parks/state parks with lots of easy trails.

I like exploring the outdoors, and I like learning things at museums indoors. :P
