Thoughts on Babylon 5?

I watched through the first season a while back, and I'm planning to pick it up after I finish my run of Star Trek Voyager. I already ordered the Movie Collection and Season 1, but I want to know if season 1's pacing is indiciative of the series as a whole. Because I recall season 1 being reaaaalllllyyyyyy slooooooowwwww.

Beware... Babylon 5 out-awesomes Battlestar Galactica. You may wind up changing your avatar.

Yeah, I said it.

Season 1 is fairly slow, because it's the season that introduces the characters and lays the foundation for the main story arc. If you plan on going through B5 I'd recommend you repeat Season 1 because there's a lot of stuff in there that will be referenced later.

If I had to refresh myself on Java for, perhaps, an interview of Ooglegay persuasions, what would you advise?

Head First Java is an amazing book. You might find it a bit under your skill level as an experienced developer, but it makes no assumptions and presents the info in a way that is fun to read. I have a copy on my shelf at work. I luvs it.

Cool, how much does this delve into the more advanced aspects of development.
It's been several years, but I've been using Java for a bit before switching to The Dark Side, I mean, .NET.

It's got a few appendices at the end that delve into stuff like Enumerations, but it's not by any means an "advanced" resource. I like it because it reminds me of the fundamentals, which I sometimes forget when thinking about my factory classes and singletons. I see that as being of particular value for someone who's used to C#, because the two languages are very similar, but the subtle differences can be pretty big "gotchas." When I first switched from C# back to Java I stumbled over those things a lot.

I liked Bourne Identity and I think I've seen the second one... but they started running together in my mind. Matt Damon is a good action hero and all, but I think the conspiracy side of the story line was a little too complex for me.

What's the greatest band ever to grace planet Earth with their music?

I can't pick just one... Van Halen, Survivor, The Moody Blues... (Can you tell I'm a child of the '80s?)

If you ever had to choose between saving the life of your best friend, and your closest relative, who would it be?

Well, my closest relatives are my kids, and anyone whom I'd call a best friend would WANT me to save my kid over him, so that's an easy one.

You're informed that you're missing a finger, but you haven't looked to check which one. Which finger would you prefer gone as opposed to the others?
