I helped a friend bottle his Irish Red and brew a double IPA (which he informed me didn't ended up working). I have the kit in my garage (still need to make a wort cooler, though), but I haven't done it yet. It's been hard to find the time and space to really get it all done.

Yeah I've been meaning to start building recipes. Basically my midterm plan is to get out of welding and open a proper brewery. I like welding, but I love beer, eh? Also, I just burned a quarter inch deep hole in my thigh so I'm not too hot on welding right this second.
Is my vague idea of creating a somewhat lighter beer and calling it the **** Your Light Beer and marketing it to the rougher bars around here a bad one? I'm thinking a raised middle finger for the tap handle.

Yeah I'm a firm believer in attention-whoring tap handles, like Sweetwater's trout ones.
And yeah, I like welding and it's decent money but I can already feel my health going. Constant exposure to metal dust, and high temperatures, then sticking myself with a 11,000 degree tungsten (fun fact, thanks to the shielding gas used and its thermal conductivity, the tungsten can heat past it's boiling point without falling apart. The arc itself is in the 35k degree range) this afternoon has kinda led my mind elsewhere. But it's pretty amazing when you're doing it on your own time.
Any brewery name ideas?

Yeah, I love me some creative tap handles. I imagine you could kick out some pretty badass welded ones.
Hmm, names for breweries? Don't have any names really, but I imagine they should really reflect what you want to do with beer and what's important for you.
If you want more extreme or creative brews, get a more outlandish name, but you prefer the balanced, something more traditional.
If local communities is important, maybe name it after your area. You're into Norse mythology, so something like Valhalla Brewery, Midgard Brewing Company, or Einherjar Ales, and comes out with an Olde Odin Pale Ale (I regret missing out on the shirt when it was on RiptApparel) or Mjolnir Double IPA. Imagine the tap for Mjolnir, with a solid metal, welded hammer of Thor. Or have, like, a mead-infused Belgian called Valkyrie with a Valkyrie tap handle. Dope.
For myself. I'd through some m*****f****** space in that s***.
Orion Brew Station. Nova Pale Ale. Supernova IPA. Hypernova Double IPA. Black Hole Stout. Red Giant, or Betelgeuse Red. Belgian White Dwarf, or Sirius Belgian White.

That's what I was thinking, I've been killing some rye whiskey and I think the general flavor profile would make a decent IPA. But I was thinking of stretching to a more pan-mythological level with, say, Rye of Horus. All Seeing Rye? I have way to much time at work to let my mind run.ArchAngel wrote:I had some Rye IPA, and you know, I can dig it.
Freya->fRYEa?
mm, that might be a stretch.
What type of pipe do you run anyway?

Stouts. I've been finding Stouts a little better lately, and I can get down with some Imperial Stouts.
Um, just a cheap wood one.
Nothing speaks to my heart more than pan-mythology.Orodrist wrote:That's what I was thinking, I've been killing some rye whiskey and I think the general flavor profile would make a decent IPA. I happened to score a Peterson system standard (forget the exact number) and a Savinelli Signature series (4? I think?) for 20 bucks each at a garage sale. Unsmoked.
That was like, $200-300 worth. I've uh... I've been a happy lil hobbit >_>
Anyway, back to questions. Any good reads lately?

In mid-studies, I get this habit of repeating stories to people who have already heard them XD "HEY HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT-" "yes, yes you have."
