Sadly, my Trek Book collection is limited to what my Mom owned. It's about 20 books, but...no, I have not...but I really want to now. O_o I've been on a binge recently...First was Flag Full of Stars, then Death Count, now Sarek, and something else later...Star Trekian binges.

Hardly counts, but I'm working through BradyGames' Tekken 6 strategy guide.

Mostly, I just wanted to boast of my $0.48 purchase.

And the fact that I haven't even read through the glossary (which starts the book) yet... and I've already learned a bit that will totally up my skill levels.

Finished Cell a while back. Good read, neat ending.



Now reading Through Wolf's Eyes by Jane Lindskold. I was walking through the isles of our local library recently and the picture of a wolf caught my eye (on the spine of the book). I took the book out, red the intro and thought... what the heck? Let's see what it's like. XD

Lemme tell ya... I haven't been disappointed at all. The story is about a girl who has been raised by wolves (she can talk to them. corny? no, it actually works. the wolves are characters in the story ), and is now being introduced to humanity for the first time. I'm around 200 pages in (out of a good solid 600), and it's excellent. I also just read that it's a series of six books... which makes me happy.

Anyway. Yeah. *is hooked*

The Founding by Dan Abnett

It's a collection Imperial Guard stories aimed at newer readers getting into the 40k book. Only about 30 pages in, but man, it's so incredibly detailed, and the action gets awesome. Enjoying it a lot, time permitting.

Left it sitting for like... months. Finally finished it. Definitely entertaining. Pretty interesting. Peculiar ending.

Not bad for my first book rooted in Magic: The Gathering.

Guild Wars: Ghosts of Ascalon

The first, and currently only, novel set in the Guild Wars universe. It was written to be the story link between Guild Wars and the upcoming Guild Wars 2. 70 pages in, and it's a mixed bag. Cool to read more about the Guild Wars lore... but it started off feeling like I was listening to a Dungeons and Dragons play session. Definitely getting better, though.

The Way of Shadows

Oh. My. Gosh. I haven't read a book better than this one, since..... Well, maybe ever.

I thought it was going to be some cheesy fantasy book, with the only redeeming factor being that the main character is an assassin. Let me tell you, I was beyond wrong.

I don't believe I've ever read a book with more believable characters than this one, nor have I once been so attached to a fictional person like I was with these. On top of that, the book's overall story is incredibly intriguing, with so many plot intelligent plot twists, and so many memorable moments... It's hard to imagine how the author came up with it. It's mind blowing.

There were instances in this story than made me queasy (Sexual abuse of children implied, not depicted), while others made me laugh out loud. When the book finally ended, I felt so many different things that I just sat there, trying to realize what all had happened. But be warned, the novel is not for the feint of heart, and should be avoided if you have problems with some implied sexual situations.

Brent Weeks, the author, is by far my new favorite novelist. He's inspired heavily by J.R.R Tolkien and George R.R. Martin, and I highly recommend him if you feel like reading something mind blowing.

Read this book, you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it. There are two more in the series, and I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Holy crap. Mind = blown.

A Song of Ice and Fire is easily as good as any fantasy ever written. I'd go so far as to say it's tied with LoTR as my favorite fantasy series ever, and that's saying a ton.

Guild Wars: Ghosts of Ascalon

Meant to finish it a couple of days ago, but then Halo: Reach happened... and stuff.

Anyway, fun times. It's definitely a book of lore, though. Primary appeal is to existing Guild Wars fans; not a lot going for it for the rest of the populace.

Finally finished reading Watchmen. (Had a really hard time putting down the game controller this week.) Overall, I liked it more than the movie, but it's hard to follow with the narrative sometimes... mostly because it goes in seven different tangential directions for character analysis... before bringing it all back into one stream for the conclusion. Real life works that way, but I'm not so convinced that I care for it in storytelling.

Not my favorite thing ever, and not exactly an enjoyable read overall, either, but it did make me think. Mostly, it left me (and I would assume most thoughtful readers) to consider the meaning of "good."

Because even if good and evil are mutually exclusive (though I'm not sure that's entirely accurate), they are not always so easily discerned.

Just finished The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Amazing novel. Seriously.

And starting The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon.
