System Shock 2

That was a blast, although the last couple of levels aren't as well done as what comes before (you can see the designers ran out of time, EA wanted the game on the shelves). Great game! If you want to play it today you have to be able to get past the dated graphics, but the rest is top notch: sound design, voice acting, complexity of gameplay, feeling of dread and loneliness, quality of writing, etc. Highly recommended if you want a game that has some actual depth.

Now I'm installing the Half-Life 1 single player survival horror mod Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut. I've already been playing it at my parents' house but I don't think I'll continue there, when I'm there usually my girlfriend is with me and I'm not going to play games then, so I figured I'd just play it at my own place.

Uncharted 2

Sooooo much better with the difficulty cranked up. I actually have to say it wasn't necessarily harder than on normal, especially since it's easier to find certain types of ammo.

Just finished Half-Life. I think this is my third play though. Good as ever (and Xen is annoying as ever).

Exactly. I just finished Opposing Forces as well (was feeling a little lousy, so I had some time). At least there you aren't in Xen for more than 20 minutes. :P Also I love the variety of weapons. Really does make it feel like a whole new game, even if you are in mostly the same setting.

I haven't yet gotten Opposing Forces or Blue Shift. I want to though.

Blue Shift, IMO, is nowhere near as good as Opposing Forces. No new weapons, very short and most of the levels are kind of bland. Not to say that it's awful, just not up to Half Life standards.

Just finished up Psychonauts! Third play through, I think. Interestingly it, like Half Life, starts out great and manages to stay interesting but the last levels are just as maddening as Xen. What is it with good games forcing you into their weakest aspects for the last hour or two? Far Cry is another one.

It's more of a "beat the collection" thing for me. XD

Nothing wrong with that. It also adds a little to Barny's character in Half Life 2, though there's no direct references. But it does let us know how he got out of Black Mesa.

Indeed it is. I'd definitely recommend it. Though, just so you know, there are some fairly dark themes and a bit of language. What I really like about it is how the "mental" levels visually reflect the condition of the mind they represent. Some of them are truly works of art.
