Traditionally, I watch the Star Wars series whilst I'm wrapping gifts (it uh...slightly affects my wrapping efficiency. >_>). If I make it through the series and still have gifts to wrap, I'll probably start on LOTR and the Hobbit.

The phrase originated in the ye olde days, since the greek letter X (or 'chi') was the first letter in Christ's name, it was often used when referencing Him. It circulated down through the church in various ways as a shorthand way of referring to Jesus until someone applied it to "the Christ mass", which was shorted to Christmas, which became X-mas.
Which is why I giggle fiendishly whenever someone says "I want to take the Christ out of Christmas, so I'm using X-mas instead". XD
