Highly, since that's really what it's meant for, and being cross-platform it can do so with unlimited flexibility.
Thing is, Java works best when it's combined with other technologies, so it can make use of the best features of those technologies while losing none of its own power.

Alright, so what sort of frameworks do you recommend for Java-based web development?

There is only one worth mentioning.
Java Server Faces (JSF)
Once you go JSF, you never go back...

Hmm, I'll look into that one.
I've heard that Wicket is something to stay away from. XD
Conversely, though it's not really Java, I've heard good things about Grails and ZK (Though that ZK-Grails is painful).
What dost thou think of the programming language ML?

Never used it. Seems interesting, though.

I'm not sure I understand that question, actually. I wonder if I was half asleep or something.
Mediocrity, or mediacrity?

Neither. If you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly...

I don't understand.
Tacos as the meaning of life?

Yes. Yes they are.
Know what my wife introduced me to a couple weeks ago for the very first time? Fish tacos. Of course, my wife is an extremely awesome, phenomenal, superhuman cook, so it may be that I hate fish tacos but only like them when she makes them...

So I finally got this Java program running for a class...(Problem was that I wasn't giving it any input. heh.)
...Where has Java been all my programming life? It's like the scales have fallen off of my eyes. It's just so dang nice. I'll have to give C# a fair shake too, but man. I wish I'd had a managed language when I took Object-Oriented. I was fighting the language, not the paradigm; I'm just now appreciating the power of OOP.

How do you feel about build automation and dependency management tools like Ant and Maven?

Ant is cool but Maven rocks my face off. It's the best cure for .jar hell, especially in an environment with multiple developers.

I've heard it's nice. I may have landed there once in an airplane...
