I would have it if I had play RoI, I just started again since November :(
Overwatch takes too much time.

I only have the gauntlets and leg armor with ornaments, I have the standard chest piece. I did however get the full dawning set with some silver.

It's a delightful puzzle game. I really like it. Been playing a ton of that and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (Though that may be too Japanese for your tastes, lol) on my Wii U. Worthy addition to the Mario series, and it's based on a minigame in Super Mario 3D World (Also worth getting).

Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Maker, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze are also all excellent and should be on your Wii U list.

So it seems you've got a PS4. How are you liking it? And more importantly, what games do you have?

I'm missing the helmet and the chest piece, but since I've basically superglued the Armamentarium on, I'm not missing that. Want the helmet though...

I'm interested in it, because eventually I want to start making games. But I want a decent knowledge of programming first, and a decent handle on art, and about fifteen other things...XD

It's cool though. :D

Cool. I've actually got a running tally of games I want to get when I get a Wii U...that'll be a long time down the road, though.

I lurve it. <3 It is all the flame and all the glory. My only complaint about the console at large is that Sony switched over to a paid internet model, really. And I can't blame them for that when X-box fanboys proved people would pay for it...c'est la vie.

Currently, I have Uncharted 4 (so many tears), No Man's Sky, Transformers: Devastation, Destiny (with Rise of Iron), and a handful of legacy games that I got for free from the marketplace.

What I don't have is PS Plus. Which I won't rant about since I've already written dissertation-length rants about it in the past. However, that lead to the discovery of Planetside 2, Star Trek Online, and most recently Paragon, which don't require it.

I must have the cloak then too.

I need to get a raid team to do the new Vault, the ornaments make you look like a vex!

I'm taking a class for 3D design that lasts until June. I started on Tuesday and already made a replica of Genji's shaken (shuriken). Obviously I don't want to color it because 3D printers don't use multiple colors at once. I just need to add the line that go through the blades.

I love my PS4 as well. And PS Plus is expensive...but you also get free games. So there is that element.

Since I've been playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions, I want to know your thoughts about some of the music.

The opening song is this number:

And I just fought a boss, which had this one:

Quite the range huh? What do you think?

The deuce. I need a raid team period, actually. I heard they're updating all of them, and I'd love to complete them all, just for the story's sake.

Awesome. That's really cool! ^_^ Looks fantastic, too. Have you printed one?

I think 3D printing is pretty amazing. Once the costs drop a little more, I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a household tool. I don't have any experience in it, granted, but I can't count the amount of times in my life that I've needed a part made or a prototype created. And the cosplay possibilities are endless. XD

They're printing houses now. That's just crazy.

Cheap and poor as I am, I actually wouldn't call it expensive. $50/$60 a year is around $5 a month, and if I could pay it that way, I would. Heck, even $10 a month for the flat rate isn't terrible. It's the principle of the thing. They're not only knee-capping certain games that I have already paid for, they're doing it because they want me to pay for server access. It's not even Sony's server's all the time. And they're only doing it because Xbox gamers rabidly declared they would.

And that intrinsically miffs me, because I already pay for internet, I paid for the console (it was a gift, actually. But you get what I'm saying), and I paid for the game. But, especially in the case of games like Destiny, half of the content is locked away behind a pay wall. O_o

If a company tried that trash on PC gamers, they would get laughed at. Or outright die because of a lack of purchases. This has actually happened before.

However, I would also argue that if I am paying for the games...they aren't free. Especially given that you don't keep them unless you keep paying.

I actually liked them both. I wouldn't purchase them, but I've got no complaints. The boss music especially was good.

Right now It's just my best friend and I grinding light, then he said he's going to be on an LFG all day looking for "nice" people to play Destiny with for 4 weeks.
It's not going to work.

I haven't 3d printed anything yet, and actually that shuriken was the first thing I've ever made. Nothing that spectacular either considering most of the pieces are flat. That shuriken took me 3-4 hours.

The many types of shurikens?

The boss music is pretty good.

I encountered this piece of battle music in the game last night, and I really like it:

Yeah...every time I get tempted to use a game finding tool, I figure I'm just going to get stuck with a bunch of turds. Or players that devote 57 hours a week to playing and can't understand why I'm not as perfect as they are. Which is perhaps worse.

3-4 hours is pretty good, actually. Take me that long to draw it on paper. XD

Haven't done any research into the matter, actually. I know I've seen five hundred and twenty designs for them, but there's got to be some sort of proper design for them. Were they actually even a real weapon used in history?

Something to look up, I suppose.

I'd actually call that fantastic. Especially in a boss battle. I have, literally, no complaints either legitimate or manufactured.

I...I don't quite know what to do with myself.

I'll say this much: You may not end up caring much for it, but Tokyo Mirage Sessions has an awesome soundtrack.

The gameplay has some awesome quirks. Basically, you have the standard SMT battle system where enemies are either weak, resistant, nullifies, reflects, or have no reaction to certain types of elements and attack types (Swords, Lances, and Bows all do different damage types, in addition to elements like Fire, Ice, Electricity, etc). While in a normal SMT game this would either give you just extra damage or extra damage plus an extra attack, in this game it triggers a "session." Each character has a series of "session" attacks, which are triggered on certain attack types hitting weaknesses. If an enemy is weak to electricity, for example, and a character hits with an electricity attack, then a character with an Electricity-<something> attack will launch that attack. So suppose in this example another character has an Electricity-Ice session attack, and another has an Ice-Cleave (The term for sword damage) session attack. The character who uses the electricity attack will trigger the character with the electricity-ice session attack (Which activates an ice attack), which in turn activates the character with the ice-cleave attack (which activates a cleave attack). This is a 2-move session attack. Using sessions, you can unleash tons of damage on the enemies. I love it.

So here's a question: When it comes to RPGs, what do you look for in a battle system? I've described the SMT system briefly, I'm sure you're probably aware of some of the classic systems. I just want to pick your brain on this topic, as I've been thinking about games like Final Fantasy can (and have) shake up their battle systems with each iteration of the series.

The most important things for me is that it has to work well, and it has to be consistent, or even predictable. And I want skill to be the determining factor most of the time, whether strategic or reflex. I don't mind intricacy or complexity; I am completely willing to learn, strategize, ETC, as long as it works well.

To use FF as an example, I have no problem with the standard ATB system used in 3-9. It's kinda generic, but once you learn the system, you learn how to use it to its most effective point. If I know my healer has a low speed, I'll automatically heal whenever his/her turn comes up to deal with whatever damage the baddies throw at me. I can even plan around the attack speed of my other characters to use their attacks to slow/speed the battle up. Trance attacks (introduced in 9, I think. I never played 8, so it may be before that) add another layer to this, but they never remove the flow and ease of use. Elemental affinities are relatively simple, but it's there to use.

This is what I mean by predictable. I've got to be able to use it strategically, I suppose. In the course of most RPG's, I'm going to be fighting hundreds of battles, and to have a clunky or frustrating battle system is to ruin the game.

Take FF13, as an antithesis. It's also ATB, but I hated that battle system; it's just badly designed. I don't remember if you've played it, but FF13 has each character play multiple classes, switched between within battles multiple times as the situation needs. Which is clunky at best, and a pain at worst. Not only do you have to remember what each job is good at, but you've got to remember which characters have each job, and they all work differently. Normal attacks have to be used on enemies to fill a chain gauge, but some jobs' attacks are effective at filling it than others, even though it's all normal attacks. O_o U srs bro? I won't even go into the buff/debuff system, because that would turn into an FF13 rant, and not a battle system discussion.

I'm also not a huge fan of strictly you-go-I-go turn-based, but I'll play it if it is done well. I don't like feeling as if my skill has nothing to do with winning or losing. The Mario and Luigi/Paper Mario series are some of the finest examples of that system. Megaman X: Command Mission comes to mind as a bad one. The battles are done within a queue, fastest speed skill attacks first, like you do. The problem was that some enemies, the last boss especially, just have bonkers speed, and ridiculously damaging attacks. He was always first to attack, and always killed me in two rounds. I gave up after 4-5 hours in attempting to beat him. Yes, grinding; but come on. If I've dropped 30 hours into a game, and can barely scratch the last boss, that's bad game design. Extending the game by grinding is not a good way to get me to buy a sequel.

And that brings it around nicely. My skill has nothing to do with the victory or loss of that battle; it's stat numbers.

Recently, whether it's taste or I'm just impatient, I've been preferring action RPG's. XD Hack/slash/win. The SMT system sounds like fun though. Team choice matters a lot.

Shurikens were actually used. They were just thin sharp pieces of metal. They were cheap and reliable.

I never found anybody on an lfg, I just joined a clan and momentarily become a pro destiny player... Then Overwatch was released.

I like them. Most flavors of slushies I like, though. Just as long as it comes in a large sizes.

Home made Chicken and Dumplings. All day, every day. I could eat an entire pot myself, given the time and a large enough spoon. I want some now, actually.
Deepfreeze32 wrote:Being forced to watch boring videos is horrible?
You say boring...I say naptime, if there's an available wall/object/person you can prop yourself up on. Or daydream time. If the room is well lit and someone is going to be a dork about it...if your eyes are glazed and you're half a million miles away in your mind, fighting alien wildebeests with laser cannons...well, you're still technically watching the video.
