Orange. I mean, that's like picking between solid gold coins (with one copper lump in the form of the vanilla flavor), but probably orange.
Deepfreeze32 wrote:Animal Crossing?

And because I may as well ask since it's a similar game, Harvest Moon?
Animal Crossing...I can never decide. I've only played the Gamecube version, and it's like...I play the game almost obsessively for weeks...then I realize that the fishing, digging, wandering, ETC...is all there ever is. And then I get bored, and walk away because...well, there's only so many times you can change wallpaper and fish. O_o

Harvest Moon is similar. I play the game almost obsessively, upgrading my farm, my tools, my animals, searching every screen every in-game day to make sure I don't miss anything...and then I realize that's all there is, and I walk away. It's almost an in-game existential crisis. XD Even Rune Factory, which is a pretty amazing hack and Slash mixed with Harvest Moon, I never manage to complete the game. O_o

Yet weeks, months, years later...I will return to the game, start over, and repeat the cycle. Or look up the newest iterations for perusal and buying consideration. So I can't really tell you how I feel about them. XD I think I like them...they're just a tad too monotonous for me.

Sounds like me and WoW. XD

Thoughts on Rogue One (Either pre-viewing or post-viewing, depending on if you've seen it yet)?

I'm doing my best not to think about it. I'm seeing it tomorrow, and I've literally avoid anything with the headline of "Rogue One". Even "Spoiler free" reviews.

Pre-viewing, I'm pretty excited. Truth is, I love pretty much everything Star Wars. I loved the Force Awakens, I love the OG, I love the Prequels. I love the Clone Wars cartoon (both the recent computer animated one, and the original Genndy Tartakovsky series of animated shorts). I love the games (except for KoTOR II, which was a travesty), I love the merchandise. I have a lightsaber sitting two feet away from me right now, and a Star Wars poster art calendar from 2004 still hanging on my wall.

Basically, as long as they aren't utter idiots and try to make the story 'relevant to today's world', I can't see myself not liking it. XD

Even then, (Here's looking at you The Two Towers), I'll probably still like it. That's not a hype train, it's just the reality of the situation.

So have you seen it by the time you read this? :P

I'll put my thoughts in spoilers:
Spoiler:
I loved this movie. I'm sure you know that I was not a fan of TFA at all (I am in fact loathe to call it a Star Wars movie, let alone a good one), for many reasons that lots of people seem to consider stupid. I hated the writing (especially the "comedy" that instantly dates this movie to the mid 2010s). I hated the editing and its frantic, foolish ambition to get the movie moving to the next action scene as fast as humanely possible. I hated the cinematography and set design for being so un-Star Wars that it looks like a Hollywood imitation of what George Lucas crafted with the original and prequel trilogies. I hated the main characters inasmuch as the movie seemed to think that motivations don't matter. Rey has too much power that is not given an explanation. Finn has contradictory character motivations. The most criminal offense of making space battles BORING! Etc etc.

But Rogue One actually feels like a Star Wars movie again. The cinematography, the editing, the set design, the costumes: this all feels like a proper Star Wars movie. And it does the one thing I will NEVER forgive TFA for not doing: it tries some new things. In this case, it showcases the scale of Imperial might so much better than TFA, and dare I say it, even the original trilogy did. There is so much BIG stuff here. The other thing I liked was that it took a much darker route. Most of the characters die, but their sacrifice is rewarded. This feels like a movie that doesn't beat around the WAR part of Star Wars. I also like the battle of Scarif, since it reminded me of the pacific theater of WWII.

Anyway, after being unimaginably let down by TFA and its far too familiar rehashing with JJ Abrams horrific writing and direction, Gareth Edwards has actually made a Star Wars movie worth caring about, and one i plan to buy on Blu Ray. Contrast with TFA, which I will never buy unless VIII and IX are both amazing and come in a bundle with TFA that makes it cheaper than buying those two individually. TFA can go die in a fire.

Sorry if you like TFA, if it were done by anyone other than JJ, it would increase in score (2/5 for me with what we got) by at least two points. I HATE JJ Abrams so much for his terrible plotting and editing. XD

I don't think I'd mind, actually. I like helping people with computer related stuff. At the same time...I don't know the ins and outs of Facebook, so when people ask me random questions about it I am sorta like "Uh...google it". >_>
micah211 wrote:Orange is the best fruit to me too. As long as vanilla doesn't count as one.

Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts?
I tend to treat the vanilla ones as sacrificial; meaning, I let my dad eat them while I eat the other ones. >_>

Too different to compare, even though Kingdom Hearts is half Final Fantasy. XD FF games are turn based (or ATB battle system.) Kingdom Hearts is hack and Slash.

Actually though...Nevermind. Kingdom Hearts. For sheer epic story, and legitimate heart punching moments, the Kingdom Hearts series wins hands-down. Not even kidding. I've been punched in the feels by Final Fantasy, and I like them a lot...but Kingdom Hearts had drawn tears, and left me with what I consider some of the greatest moments in storytelling of gaming history. So much to the point that I've wanted to sit people down and tell them this amazing story.

But then, I like Disney characters, and the whole feel of the game is pretty much spot on for me. I need to go finish Birth by Sleep. I don't know why I walked away from it. XD

Nice. XD
Spoiler:
I am actually undecided. As much as i loved TFA (though I cannot agree with you more about Abrams...I really can't. XD), and as much as this felt like Star Wars...I am actually undecided. O_o

Thing is, I don't like dark movies. Everyone dying in a movie (or a book, or a game, for that matter) annoys me. It feels like some sort of bad plot contrivance to make me feel something. It's like when an author kills a dog in a book; there's almost never a purpose to it other than wanting to make the reader sad. It's shoddy writing.

It doesn't help me that the way they killed everyone off was predictable to the point of eye rolling. Literally, the death of every character was so telegraphed that I almost didn't care when it happened. XD Especially Chirrut; and that dude was so cool it was painful when they killed him, but you still knew it was going to happen. The only real surprise was all the rebel ships getting 'sploded at the end. Yet even that you could guess, because the Mon Calamari leader wasn't Ackbar.

This was basically Red Dawn: A Star Wars story. And I think I will call it that from now on, at least in front of people I know have seen it. It was incredibly depressing, even though their sacrifices were noble.

BUT...at the same time, this was so beautifully Star Wars I can't help but want to like it. The call backs to the original series (And the Clone Wars cartoon. O_o Oh my gosh, I squee'd when I made the Saw Gerrara connection. And the one storm trooper near the beginning with a New Zealand accent? U srs bro?) I want to see it again now that I know what to look for. I missed the AT-AT's too, in the prequels and TFA; and as much as the special effects in the original trilogy were great, being computer generated was the best thing to ever happen to them. <3 The origin of the Rogue call sign means a lot too. And yeesh, they nailed the broken-down/aged appearance of the universe, from the ships to the people. Everything felt like OG Star Wars.

And that scene near the end when Darth Vader triggered his saber in the dark airlock? Oh man...I felt bad because he was slaughtering the good guys, but dang...I got chills. That one 30 second scene did more for Darth Vader than the prequels combined. I had to hold back a fanboyish scream. >_>

And it's like you said. This does the best job thus far of really showing the Imperial Fist for what it is. You genuinely fear the empire after this. And it makes A New Hope that much better, because now you know the odds they were up against. The empire also seems more evil.

At the same time...everyone dies. XD The movie is literally Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies: The Movie. I don't mind so much about the main characters, but the side characters were what made the movie for me, and if even one of them had survived...it would probably change my feelings entirely. I liked the droid a lot too. He reminded me of a friendly HK-47.

So, despite knowing before hand that everyone died (I had, in fact, told people that before going into the movie) and despite the fact that it's Star Wars...I'm struggling to like it. Yet I know when it comes out on Blu-Ray, I'm going to buy it. I'll probably like it better the second time, knowing no one makes it out.

I was also impressed with how they recreated Peter Cushing and a young Carrie Fisher, though that is a side note.

I don't actually watch talk shows. The exception to this rule is Miniwargaming's weekly Sit and Talk, which is generally related to tabletop war games, and/or random craziness.

Also I'm glad you liked Rogue One, I thought it was fantastic with the way it led into A New Hope. And Vader.... ohhhhh Vader.

What was your feeling when you got your driver's license?

Yeah. I watched A New Hope yesterday and it is just so much more epic when the Deathstar blows up now. XD And it was pretty awesome before.

Honestly? Sort of meh. I got my license at 22 because I was starting college the next week, and basically had no choice but to drive myself. I had gotten along fine with a permit before since I was not (and still am not) one of those guys who desperately wanted to drive around for their own 'freedom', nor am I the type of person who really wants to go out into the world and do things. With the possible exception of midnight cheeseburgers runs and gaming events.

So you see, for me, getting my license was simply a requirement for living in a rural area in the modern world. Another chain to add to the weights of life, and not a key to freedom after all.

That said, I was also very grateful God enabled me to pass the test, since had I failed...well, the drive to school was 30 miles, and that would've been a bit tricky. XD And I like having one, since I can drive for other people now.

Essentially...sorta meh. Not bad, not good, like cold french fries.

I hope that doesn't depress you. XD
RedPlums wrote:do you prefer modding games or keeping them clean and in their purest form?
Depends on the game. If it's a game I like, I'll probably leave it alone. If it's a game I like, but it has something gnarly in it...I have no problems modding it to clean it up. I modded Icewind Dale awhile back because their was a rather surprisingly detailed naked snake goddess. Wasn't comfortable continuing to play the game with her in it, so I changed her model to that of a yeti and went blissfully on my way. XD

Basically, as a console gamer 90% of the time, mods usually aren't available to me. On the PC, I mostly use them to remove negative content, and for that reason I wish they were available on consoles.

The only other mod I recall ever using was Oldblivion, so I could play the game on my aged compy.
