But, would you rather have a Jekyll or a Hyde?

Which of the Bronte sisters was the greatest? Based off of books.

Thoughts on No Man's Sky suddenly becoming a good game because of the new update?
Interesting. I don't think I would ever want to use it, because my computers are usually pretty slow...but it's still interesting. Seems like it would be really fun to play around with.

Eh...Actually, No Man's Sky seemed like it would be great fun anyway. I didn't follow it closely, so I didn't contract the hype virus. Thus, when I looked into it as a matter of general interest for a future purchase, it looked awesome (this was after the release, and the No Man's Lie drama). Most of the complaints about the game seemed like rather minor things that were blown out of proportion...but then, I didn't drop $60, and multiplayer is not a big deal for me.

So for me, I'm glad the new update made the game better. Nothing wrong with that. ^_^ But I would probably have called it a good game before. I like wandering alien worlds, poking my nose into places.

Each man, woman, and child has both, already in their heart. That was the point of the thing. Jekyll's potion didn't give him a dark side; he made a choice to do the evil that was already in his heart. Hyde is Jekyll. That's why the story is so scary.

And you know, the only work I've read is Jane Eyre. It's a good book, so...Charlotte?

It was really fun, but I was worried with all the negativity that there would never be any updates and just wither away.
It's a fun update though.

So maybe you got asked this (I've been away from the forums for a few weeks because reasons), but...

Any Black Friday/Cyber Monday grabs?

I got a New Nintendo 3DS, a charger, a couple games (Shin Megami Tensei IV and Ocarina of Time 3D), and a Micro SD card on Black Friday.

And on Cyber Monday? I snagged a Wii U with all the bundled accessories (Gamepad, sensor bar, ac adapters, etc), a Wiimote, a Nunchuck, Super Mario 3D World, Shovel Knight, and a 4GB SD card. All used from GameStop. All for $190. I'd been eyeing the Wii U for a while now for those first-party games, but that bundle was just the right target for me. I don't have a Wii, so the ability to play Wii games AND the awesome Wii U games was what sold me on it.

Fair. I hate it when that happens.

Cool looking car. ^_^ Equally cool that a video game vehicle made it to real life. :O Now if they would just work on an airship...

Who's to say I don't already have both? *smooches arm muscle*

Ew. XD I suppose, after much thought, that I would choose the body of Adonis. Reason being, having a squirrel brain is permanent. The body of Adonis can be fixed in a few years by a healthy diet of junk food and hours of video games. If I really worked at it, I could be back to my normal body in six months.

Such deals. <3 Gamestop was crazy this year. I'm actually glad I didn't see that Wii U deal...I might have hastily rewritten my Christmas list. Shovel Knight is easily the best platformer made in the past few years.

For myself, sadly, no. I lacked the fundage for anything substantial. I was drooling over the New 3DS though, as well as the numerous PS4 deals that were floating around.

I helped my parents in their endeavors though. :D Between the two days, we scored a very good deal on a gas heater and a new printer, and then I helped my mom finish most of her Christmas shopping for my siblings.

I bought a few DVD's, though. XD

I think I would like to see one...but I would be afraid to sit in it. XD

I am, as is my wont, of two minds.

For one, I haven't enjoyed the new Final Fantasy games. Granted, the only "new" one I've played is Thirteen, but some of the things still apply. The graphical style, when it shifted from strangely cute and fantastic and vaguely human to "Everyone and their grandfather looks like an Abercrombie model" grates on me, and the battle system never feels as strategic or...something. I know it's still ATB, but it feels weird, and I miss a legitimate job system. It's very hit or miss, and honestly feels luck based at times. Plus, almost every battle (at least in FFXIII, which is the most recent I've played) has the potential to kill you. @_@ I find this, not helpful in avoiding the game becoming boring, but annoying. My characters keep leveling up, but in effect never get any tougher. Literally, the dinkiest little enemies can wipe you out in XIII, and the harder enemies can one shot you.

Plus, the characters--with a few notable exceptions--haven't felt as likable to me. They range from tolerable to downright aggravating, and could literally be pulled from almost any generic anime in publication. The effect of this is that the games feel...off. Like music that's one beat out of sync. Not terrible, but not good. I want to see the end of the song, but I also won't buy the CD. I never finished the game, so I can't comment on the story, or I would complain about that too. XD

BUT...every time I say that, and I'm ready to pass the game off as another eye rolling sequel...I see something, whether it be an over the top hairstyle or ludicrously awesome sword, that reminds me of the FF games I cut my RPG teeth on. And thus the interest is rekindled. I'll wait for some reviews, I 'spose, and see if someone who played more of the originals likes it.

To be entirely honest though, the nudity will probably keep me from buying it anyway. -_- There's also the fact I don't have a PS4, though I hope to remedy that with a modicum of alacrity.

I definitely see where you're coming from, but from the sight of somebody that's never played an FF this game looks amazing.
The leveling system is very unique.
After each battle, characters earn experience points (EXP), but they do not automatically level up when a certain amount of EXP has been gathered. Instead, the party must go to safe zones called "Havens" in the world or at designated rest sites like inns. When the rest at night, each character gains levels depending on the amount of EXP earned. If defeated in battle, all EXP gained up to that point since the last level up is permanently lost.
The game barely got any criticism, and the little amount was toward story. I think I'd rather have better gameplay in an RPG though.

If I do decide to play it, I'm waiting till it's maybe half off.

You gotta get that that fixed man. Just as a matter of gaming history and experience, if for no other reason. As someone experienced with the series...well, actually I don't know what to tell you. Fifteen does look pretty good, and turn based RPG's may not be your styles. The boss battles alone would probably be worth watching, let alone playing.

I do love Thor. Of the classic, original list of Avengers, I think I would have to choose him.

Wasp is pretty cool too, though.

I have watched a streamer play one of those weird FF games, it wasn't part of the main series but more like a side quest but in its own game. It looked cool... But they didn't have the beast that is Regalia. All the swords.... So. Many. Swords.

Coolest FF sword?

I'm sitting over here having played several FF games, but never beaten any. XD

So if you were to get a Wii U, what games would you want to get?

Bonus round: What Wii games would you say are worth getting? Since the Wii U has backwards compatibility with the Wii (And I never really owned a Wii), I'm looking to get a collection going.

Cloud's Buster sword, bar none. You can get cooler looking swords, and certainly more powerful ones; the earlier iterations of the games had a sword named Ragnarok, that pretty much is self explanatory. :D And the gunblades are pretty awesome too.

But Cloud's Buster sword...it looks cool, but the history and lineage behind it are what makes it the coolest. I kinda want to tear up thinking about it.

I've actually only beaten 1, 3, 9 and Tactics. I've played 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 13, and Crisis Core. :P So I don't have much room to talk either, I suppose.

As for Wii U games, I don't even sort of know. I decided not to get one, and sorta let my knowledge of its library subside. The Monster Hunter games and most Nintendo first party stuff is a granted, and I would browse from there (Starfox would probably rank highest on my list). I've heard good things about Splatoon, and seriously...Monster Hunter. If you haven'y played a Monster Hunter game, you are missing out on an amazing series.

For the Wii...I can do a bit better.

For must gets, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario are at the top of the list. Super Mario Galaxy is.,.well, super Mario. If you like the 3D iterations of the series you will like Galaxy. Super Paper Mario turned the series from turn based combat to action RPG, with a surprisingly good (mayhaps even a bit tear jerking) story. It's just good stuff. I played the game to death. It still plays like a classic Mario game, but you earn EXP when you jump on or hammer enemies, and it's hilarious. I don't want to spoil it, but really. It's funny.

Metroid Prime too, I can recommend without hesitation. Get it. More than Mario Galaxy, even. If you can find it, the Trilogy pack is worth every penny, even if you played the series on the Gamecube. This is how the games were meant to be played. The Wii controls had been refined by that point to almost their highest level. If you can't find it, Metroid Prime 3 was ridiculously cheap the last time I checked, and still definitely worth a purchase. A bit of reading can catch you up as to why the critter that looks exactly like you wants to kill you, or you can just wing it. :P The music and scenery in that game pushed the Wii to their limits, and one of the planets in particular still sticks with me.

Twilight Princess will fall on this list as well; if you played it on the Gamecube, you can probably skip it, as it's the same game, you just point at the screen and break your wrist swinging a sword. If you haven't played it...honestly, there are times I would probably rank it above Ocarina of Time. I've heard people whine about the motion controls, but I never found them to be an issue.

Here the list get's a bit tricky. I would rank these games as excellent, but maybe not for everyone.

At the top of the list, despite many peoples complaints, and just for giggles, I would put Red Steel. It's almost famously bad, BUT...here's the thing. It was a launch title for Wii. People were expecting, despite dozens of reports to the contrary, 1:1 motion control and realistic sword combat. Red Steel uses a gesture system that is, to be fair, somewhat janky. But I really enjoyed the game. The sword fights are entertaining, the story is basically (and intentionally) cliche Japanese (you fight the Power Rangers) and the addition of Bullet time just made it feel like the crazy action movies I grew up watching. I don't imagine it's all that expensive either.

If you want what is arguably one of the best FPS games (not to be confused with the Metroid Prime series, which are more adventure based) on the Wii, I would recommend The Conduit. It's a mildly generic FPS (though it has Kevin Sorbo in it, and I love me some Kevin Sorbo. <3), but still fun. Feels like a T-rated Area 51, down to the death animation and story, because it was made by the same people. It was unique to the Wii, but not really to anyplace else. So perhaps look into it before purchasing.

Next is the somewhat controversial Metroid: Other M. Why is it controversial? Because Team Ninja made it, and it feels like a Metroid flavored Ninja Gaiden, and not Metroid. The story is actually rather interesting near the end, though it's presented in utterly terrible movies that are painfully cheesy. -_- But when you get past that, the game is actually really fun. Pseudo 2D (with a lot of the environments ripped from Metroid Fusion, to the point it's almost a remake), fast paced action oriented combat...it's a really good, really underrated game. If you don't have a history and love of Metroid, you could probably play it without any of the issues.

If you like platformers and historical Disney (two things I love) then Epic Mickey is a recommendation. It's surprisingly dark and gritty, even though it's still Disney. It's the 60's (and earlier) cartoons, movies and worlds that have been given a post-apocalyptic feel, and hand the reigns of fate leading to darkness or light into your hands. The sequel is not as good, at least on the Wii. Just really, REALLY pay attention to what you are doing, and maybe look up a quest guide. The autosave punishes you in the worst ways, at times.

If you want something that feels like Battlefront and Advance Wars (turn based strategy) were smashed together, Battalion Wars II might be something you'll want to look into. You control individual soldiers and vehicles, but also control squads and battalions. It's actually really fun.

Finally, if you enjoy adventure games (point and click, like Monkey Island) see if you can dig up a copy of Zack and Wiki. I never managed to finish the final series of puzzles.

Again, Ninty first party titles are probably a given, though I don't have too many of them, actually. Avoid Monster Hunter Tri on Wii, because the servers were shut down and thus some of the monsters locked forever. The Wii U version has more monsters anyway...Resident Evil 4, if you still want to play it, was remade for the Wii, and the motion controls make headshots almost unfairly easy....I think the REmakes of the first and 0 were too.

Oh, and if you have a few bucks to spare and want some mindless score attack shooting, Link's Crossbow training is waaaaaay more fun than it should be for a packed in title for a plastic controller shell. :P

Much appreciated! I'll be looking into those games when I can.

Some music!

I've shown you Ayreon before, but I don't know if I showed you this song before. Either way, thoughts?
