Coolest FF sword?
Cloud's Buster sword, bar none. You can get cooler looking swords, and certainly more powerful ones; the earlier iterations of the games had a sword named Ragnarok, that pretty much is self explanatory.

And the gunblades are pretty awesome too.
But Cloud's Buster sword...it looks cool, but the history and lineage behind it are what makes it the coolest. I kinda want to tear up thinking about it.

So if you were to get a Wii U, what games would you want to get?
Bonus round: What Wii games would you say are worth getting? Since the Wii U has backwards compatibility with the Wii (And I never really owned a Wii), I'm looking to get a collection going.
I've actually only beaten 1, 3, 9 and Tactics. I've played 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 13, and Crisis Core.

So I don't have much room to talk either, I suppose.
As for Wii U games, I don't even sort of know. I decided not to get one, and sorta let my knowledge of its library subside. The Monster Hunter games and most Nintendo first party stuff is a granted, and I would browse from there (Starfox would probably rank highest on my list). I've heard good things about Splatoon, and seriously...Monster Hunter. If you haven'y played a Monster Hunter game, you are missing out on an amazing series.
For the Wii...I can do a bit better.
For must gets, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario are at the top of the list. Super Mario Galaxy is.,.well, super Mario. If you like the 3D iterations of the series you will like Galaxy. Super Paper Mario turned the series from turn based combat to action RPG, with a surprisingly good (mayhaps even a bit tear jerking) story. It's just good stuff. I played the game to death. It still plays like a classic Mario game, but you earn EXP when you jump on or hammer enemies, and it's hilarious. I don't want to spoil it, but really. It's funny.
Metroid Prime too, I can recommend without hesitation. Get it. More than Mario Galaxy, even. If you can find it, the Trilogy pack is worth every penny, even if you played the series on the Gamecube. This is how the games were
meant to be played. The Wii controls had been refined by that point to almost their highest level. If you can't find it, Metroid Prime 3 was ridiculously cheap the last time I checked, and still definitely worth a purchase. A bit of reading can catch you up as to why the critter that looks exactly like you wants to kill you, or you can just wing it.

The music and scenery in that game pushed the Wii to their limits, and one of the planets in particular still sticks with me.
Twilight Princess will fall on this list as well; if you played it on the Gamecube, you can probably skip it, as it's the same game, you just point at the screen and break your wrist swinging a sword. If you haven't played it...honestly, there are times I would probably rank it above Ocarina of Time. I've heard people whine about the motion controls, but I never found them to be an issue.
Here the list get's a bit tricky. I would rank these games as excellent, but maybe not for everyone.
At the top of the list, despite many peoples complaints, and just for giggles, I would put Red Steel. It's almost famously bad, BUT...here's the thing. It was a launch title for Wii. People were expecting, despite dozens of reports to the contrary, 1:1 motion control and realistic sword combat. Red Steel uses a gesture system that is, to be fair, somewhat janky. But I really enjoyed the game. The sword fights are entertaining, the story is basically (and intentionally) cliche Japanese (you fight the Power Rangers) and the addition of Bullet time just made it feel like the crazy action movies I grew up watching. I don't imagine it's all that expensive either.
If you want what is arguably one of the best FPS games (not to be confused with the Metroid Prime series, which are more adventure based) on the Wii, I would recommend The Conduit. It's a mildly generic FPS (though it has Kevin Sorbo in it, and I love me some Kevin Sorbo. <3), but still fun. Feels like a T-rated Area 51, down to the death animation and story, because it was made by the same people. It was unique to the Wii, but not really to anyplace else. So perhaps look into it before purchasing.
Next is the somewhat controversial Metroid: Other M. Why is it controversial? Because Team Ninja made it, and it feels like a Metroid flavored Ninja Gaiden, and not Metroid. The story is actually rather interesting near the end, though it's presented in utterly terrible movies that are painfully cheesy. -_- But when you get past that, the game is actually really fun. Pseudo 2D (with a lot of the environments ripped from Metroid Fusion, to the point it's almost a remake), fast paced action oriented combat...it's a really good, really underrated game. If you don't have a history and love of Metroid, you could probably play it without any of the issues.
If you like platformers and historical Disney (two things I love) then Epic Mickey is a recommendation. It's surprisingly dark and gritty, even though it's still Disney. It's the 60's (and earlier) cartoons, movies and worlds that have been given a post-apocalyptic feel, and hand the reigns of fate leading to darkness or light into your hands. The sequel is not as good, at least on the Wii. Just really, REALLY pay attention to what you are doing, and maybe look up a quest guide. The autosave punishes you in the worst ways, at times.
If you want something that feels like Battlefront and Advance Wars (turn based strategy) were smashed together, Battalion Wars II might be something you'll want to look into. You control individual soldiers and vehicles, but also control squads and battalions. It's actually really fun.
Finally, if you enjoy adventure games (point and click, like Monkey Island) see if you can dig up a copy of Zack and Wiki. I never managed to finish the final series of puzzles.
Again, Ninty first party titles are probably a given, though I don't have too many of them, actually. Avoid Monster Hunter Tri on Wii, because the servers were shut down and thus some of the monsters locked forever. The Wii U version has more monsters anyway...Resident Evil 4, if you still want to play it, was remade for the Wii, and the motion controls make headshots almost unfairly easy....I think the REmakes of the first and 0 were too.
Oh, and if you have a few bucks to spare and want some mindless score attack shooting, Link's Crossbow training is waaaaaay more fun than it should be for a packed in title for a plastic controller shell.
