Gilmore Girls?

If I ever see one, I'll have to stop and visit. ^_^ But don't be insulting mah Flying J's; you just haven't been to a good one. <3

I'm good, I think. I didn't watch the original, and I'm not all that interested in watching the new one. I know people who are excited over it, though.

So which version would you recommend playing?

I'm learning there's many games from the NES era, the SNES era and even the PS1 era that I missed. For instance, I've never played a Castlevania game (I've heard Symphony of the Night is one of the best). I've only played Megaman 1, but I liked it well enough. I've also never played Super Metroid or even the original Metroid.



So Shin Megami Tensei IV came out on 3DS, and was notable for having DLC. Some of the DLC included new bosses, including these really hard fights with these enemies called Archangels. They look nothing like classic depictions of Archangels. But...they included a new song to accompany the fight. And it's awesome.

Eh...I'd go with whichever is easiest for you to get a hold of. With the caveat that, if you go with the Megaman X collection, don't get the Gamecube version: the Gamecube's controller is not at all easy to play with.

Actually though, I think I would get Maverick Hunter X. You get save functionality and an alternate game mode with another character, and as far as I remember, it's basically the same game with updated graphics and more story.

You definitely need to play Castlevania though. The original is my favorite in principle, but I've not played any of the newer ones. From a certain point in the series, they became entirely different games (and I actually think it was Symphony that changed it) than the classic Castlevania experience, which is a pretty basic platformer.

I would highly recommend Super Metroid as one of the best games ever (you uh...can probably live without playing the brutally difficult and mapless OG Metroid. >_> But you didn't here me say that. Get Zero Mission instead), but as it's very similar to the aforementioned Zero Mission, or Metroid Fusion, if getting a copy of original Super Metroid is tricky, you can try those instead.

In fact, if you put vampires and mythical beasts into Super Metroid, you'd have Castlevania.

Also, that was insanely awesome. That is some last boss music, there.

It started off not that bad: I like that song a lot, so I was OK with it.

Then it made my ears itch, and all I could think was "this is an unholy convocation of discordant disharmony." O_o There's something...unsettling, about it. XD

I wouldn't touch that game with a ten foot pole...unless that pole ended in a flame thrower and I was burning the last copy of it and its sequels stored on a HDD. The rest I would have to destroy with a heuristic living rootkit inserted into Steams servers, and also the federal DNS servers, and maybe seeded bit by bit into torrent streams.

True, the virus would likely come to life, take physical form and hunt me down in cliched` monster movie fashion, but I think death by killer robot is a small price to pay to wipe that evil from the earth.

Ahem. Yes. Castlevania. Actually, I haven't played IV either. It's strictly 1-3 for me, and of those I still prefer the first (though the second is fun, it's literally unbeatable without a guide or stupid, blind, "I fell of a Skyscraper and walked away unharmed" luck).

Also, AM2R. It is just as good (if not...maybe...possibly...a hair better) than Super Metroid, and it runs natively on computers. >_>

I liked the song too. There's nothing particularly special about it, but in that way it reminds me of the SNES Final Fantasy's. Good enough music for you to battle with, not something you'd listen to on its own, perhaps?

I know well of the trouble of Castlevania II. The Angry Video Game Nerd got his start complaining about that game. XD


Regarding the soundtrack: The game itself isn't much to write home about. The combat is a bit bland, there's a hacking minigame which is fun but clunky, but overall the game just kinda meh. It was originally going to be an MMO, and when the Xbox bombed in Japan, they stripped out the MMO component and cobbled the story together into a single-player game, which is what Shin Megami Tensei NINE ended up being. It's a curiosity, but not much else.

And I've heard that as well...but I'd probably argue it if my grump level was even slightly higher. XD The first one is all about timing and fluidity of motion. People who complain over the controls just don't get it, or played Symphony of the Night first. Except for the stairways...that was just bad design. O_o They made them action points rather than part of the terrain, so the only way you can get on them is by pressing down or up. This has the side effect of making them outside of the world for the most part, so if you get hit in front of a staircase? Yeah, you're going in the pit.

I was talking about Gilmore Girls, actually. I know what FNAF is about; I looked it up one day to see what all the fuss was about...I wish I could tell you I slept well that night. >_> I also feel the need to arbitrarily insult it, but I won't.

If I had to guess, I would say a bird of some sort. The shape is somewhat avian.

You should've put a picture of Adonis next to it. I totally would have gotten it then. Of course, then I would've entered my Ask thread to find a naked guy, so...I'm not going to complain. I am OK being wrong.

If I had to guess, by which I mean I'm too lazy to drag my mouse to the top of the screen and Google it, I would suppose it's because the moisture changes the refraction of the material. In the case of submerged objects, I would think it would be the filtering/refractory effect water has on light.

That's difficult to say, actually. The first felt like a badly made indie movie for the first two minutes, but really picked up in the last one.

The second felt like...I don't know. Trope laden anime, I guess. But again, it picked up near the end.

I think I'm going to go with the first. Because as indie movie as it felt, it was a true opening; the hooks of an interesting tale were laden with bait and thrown in to the waters of my mind. After watching that one, I wanted to track down a copy of the game.

I'm not actually sure. I was just experimenting (spilled water on my pants because I tripped) and then I got mad and starting thinking about why it made my pants look darker (as if I peed myself) and there you go. The questions I ask.

I agree that the original opening has a better hook. The game has a very good story, starts off with a slightly slow mystery that builds to something awesome. Don't quit it if the initial story doesn't grab you, it gets so much better.

The direct sequel (Don't play this one until you've beaten Innocent Sin) also has two versions of the opening.
