They use Python primarily for the incoming CS students with no programming experience (An unfortunate amount) and the IT majors.
They also throw the Math majors (Including the math education majors) into Programming 1 (C++) right off the bat, regardless of prior experience (Though some of that is the Math department not really communicating with our department).
Our department is quirky.

That's extremely bad. Python isn't a strongly-typed language which means it can be absurdly hard to debug and can really teach some nasty programming habits. Languages like C++, Java and C# are strongly typed and thank God for it.Deepfreeze32 wrote:They use Python primarily for the incoming CS students with no programming experience (An unfortunate amount) and the IT majors.

Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of all the money I don't have to spend to have a copy of VS on each of my computers...ArchAngel wrote:Haha, still better than Eclipse.

What if I used German as my programming language?

You'd probably become a billionaire.

If you can manage to make German a programming language, what could you possibly find difficult after that?

I've heard a lot of good things about it but never tried it.

Does drinking herbal tea violate the Mormon dietary rules? If there is no consensus, what is your opinion?

I've heard of a sort of list of which kinds of tea are okay and which aren't, but I don't really remember. I think that, generally speaking, herbal tea is alright and I'm pretty sure that includes Chinese tea.
