Idiotic is in the eye of the beholder.
For instance, arguing about video games could be seen as idiotic, except by those who are doing the arguing (Or have a vested interest the topic).
There is, however, a point where arguments go too far. If it gets to the point where the argument involves people getting violent, or being very rude to each other, then the argument has become stupid.

Interesting. Not sure if I would have sought that out on my own, but it's interesting. Musically, it almost has an industrial vibe, but it has vocals more along the lines of metal (Makes sense, given the vocalist is the vocalist from Demon Hunter). I'm not entirely sure if that combo works for me, but I don't dislike it.

I like it, myself. It feels like they've taken the melodious parts of Demon Hunter music, and just made an album from it.

Was reading through through some pages, and I cam across this ^. Why don't you like Fox news? They are the least bias IMO.Deepfreeze32 wrote:No idea who that is.

The video game is pretty solid. Never played the board game, but I imagine there is just as much raging at the wound dice and throw/catch dice as there was in the video game. Fox News, more often than not, doesn't really report news (At least the nationwide Fox News doesn't, the local variants are usually solid). However, before you get mad at me, virtually every cable news channel doesn't really report "news" anymore. MSNBC doesn't, CNN doesn't, and so on. This is because cable news is often not interested in truth, but views. So they say whatever gets them the most viewers (And then more ad revenue). Fox News has, depending on your definition, cemented itself as a right-wing channel in terms of viewership. A large segment of viewers of Fox News are conservative, which would seem to concur with this. Further, Fox News employs pundits widely considered to be Conservative (Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, etc). MSNBC is commonly known as the left-wing channel, primarily because it has liberal pundits like Rachel Maddow and tends to have more liberal viewership. CNN seems to try to straddle a middle ground, but more often than not just ends up annoying everyone, lol.Woiv wrote:Was reading through through some pages, and I cam across this ^. But none of this is "Bad" per se. People are entitled to differing political views, and it's ok if they watch TV that agrees with them. I don't like Fox News for the same reason I don't like CNN and don't like MSNBC: They don't report the news in a manner I find ethical. Gone are the days of Walter Cronkite, who would tell you the news with little-to-no spin. But in a 24 hour news cycle, someone always has to comment on something, or add their spin to it. It's all about the views, and opinions (Particularly strong ones, see O'Reilly and Maddow) attract views. The news, apparently, doesn't.

Very long video. I really want to play it now, in part because of that series of videos. I think I actually stand a fair chance getting a league going too, since there are so many football fans here. Perhaps ironically, watching sports on TV bores me...

The tabletop gaming leagues here are all about Warhammer and 40K, sadly not the spin-off games. I'd love to play some Battlefleet Gothic, as well as Blood Bowl.
Not tried it myself, but I've heard it's actually not that bad.

The deuce. I need to find a hidden clan of secret gamers. Or at least drive into Memphis and see what's going on at the 'local' gaming store.
Also, the Whopperito is amazing. It really, REALLY, shouldn't be...but it's amazing. It's like...distilled America.
Icelandic yogurt?

"Distilled America" sounds like a lot of Burger King's weird items from this year. The Mac n Cheetos, the Whopperito, and the chicken fries...
I've not tried Icelandic yogurt. I like Greek yogurt though...

The fatal flaw of chicken fries is cost. They cost too much for the 4 ounces of food you get.

I often regret it.
Also applies to shows, too. People sing the praises of Avatar: The Last Airbender all day long, yet when I finally sat down to watch it, I was severely disappointed. I finished season 1 and got a few episodes into season 2 before just ditching it. The main trio is the most unlikable cast of characters I've seen in a long time. Only characters who were good (The only reason I lasted as long as I did) were Zuko and Iroh. The side characters were far more interesting than the protagonists. Just such a letdown after all the hype. "It's really good for a children's show!" was the common refrain. When I pointed out that the main characters were not compelling precisely because they were children, they said "Well it was written for kids!" BUT YOU JUST SAID...
I digress. Interesting ideas could not draw me in when I was rolling my eyes at every bloody word that came out of the three main characters mouths.

Zuko becomes a main character at some point in season 2, and quickly just becomes mind blowingly awesome. <3 That's pretty much the only anime I like, though it's debatable whether or not it's actually anime.
Point is, now I want to go watch that whole series again.
What are your thoughts on Icewind Dale?

I guess you could say it's amerime, but that depends on how you want to slice the definition. Apparently in Japan, anime just means "animation," but the common parlance in the west uses it to specifically refer to Japanese Animation. I generally use the latter (Because in my mind, Japanese animation uses sufficiently different storytelling techniques as to not slot so easily into western genres), but I'm not one of those people who will fite you over it.
I guess that's the other problem. Most people I know who love Avatar haven't seen a ton of anime (or they saw Avatar first and it tainted their nostalgia-goggles), so they treat Avatar as if it's some rare thing that an animated series can have good storytelling. But if you watch most of the popular anime (Keyword being most, not all) like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, it's actually got a more interesting story from the get-go (Avatar took until the halfway point of season 1 to get remotely interesting to me). So Avatar doesn't have any "wow" factor that some friends seem to say it does. One of my friends said outright that he loved it because he didn't think animated shows could tell compelling stories. Just...facepalm.
I have not played Icewind Dale. Or Baldur's Gate. I should really get on that...

Yeah...for me, what blew me away in general, is that Avatar managed to have a compelling story without the anime tropes of extreme violence, language, gore, or sex. That's one of the main factors I appreciate about it, I suppose. Not that the story was good. Actually, I can't imagine why someone would think 'cartoons' can't have just as good of a tale as normal cinema.
As for Icewind Dale...I don't know. I bought it the other day when it was on sale, and I've put about 20 hours into it. It's good, but I discovered there are permadeath spells in use by the enemies I'm facing now. @_@ Not "you can't revive until you reach a temple" permadeath, but "That character you've spent 20 hours leveling up? Heh. Yeah. He's gone forever" permadeath. And I can't decide how that makes me feel. XD
Have idea's for your NaNo?
