Action RPG's are quickly becoming my preferred RPG experience. I love a good turn-based. I'm playing through Chrono Trigger again currently, in fact. I would go so far as to say it's the classic RPG experience. But I like to be able to control my character, a bit more.
Like...if I get pasted by the ULTIMATE FLAMING METEOR OF DOOM spell because the enemy I'm fighting has just *that* much more of a speed stat than me, and goes first in the turn order, I get frustrated. Time for more grinding. But if I have the opportunity to dodge out of the way of said UFMOD spell, and I don't, I can fault only my reflexes, and give it another shot.
So I guess it's like...80/20, for me action/turn-based. Turn-based tend to have better stories, though. At least in my experience.

What about First-Person Shooter/Action RPG hybrids (Such as System Shock/Bioshock)?

Intrinsically, I like them.
In true "I just looked at my favorite games and my collection" fashion, apparently I like "standard" FPS games more.
Like...Deus Ex. I've not played Bioshock or System shock, but I have played Deus Ex multiple times. And while it's an excellent, thought provoking game...it tends to get bogged down a lot. Either a tough enemy would jump around a corner and kaboom me, or since I knew it was a story based game and my decisions mattered, I would try to go as non-lethal as I could, leading to me dying frequently in certain spots as I had to finagle my way through.
But in, say, Halo, I can mow my way through a hundred enemies with no thought to conscience since that's how the game is, literally, played. That's how the story goes; I'm an invincible hero, relying on my instincts, guts, and frequent checkpoints to fight my way through an alien armada zealously bent on conquering earth. No mercy was offered, and none will be given.
I think the genre's might be too dichotomous for me to really, enjoy them together. I like my FPS games fast, crazy, and essentially an action movie storyline. There should be at least one Marine Sergeant who shouts a lot. I like my RPG's to have a great story, preferably with slower, but still action oriented, combat.
That said, I'm not going to turn an FPS/RPG down. Destiny is very high right now on my list of games, which while you might say that nullifies everything I've just said, Destiny is an oddball; it perfectly meshes the best aspects of the genre, and really just comes off like a first person Torchlight, or Diablo.
So, at least in games, there are exceptions for every rule. Or yeah, maybe it does nullify everything I've just said. But dangit, I used the word "dichotomous" in a non-pretentious fashion and it took me 30 minutes to write this, so I'm leave it. It is, except for mold breaking games like Destiny, entirely true for me.

My friend gave me a Humble Indie Bundle for my b'day that included The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 2 which is an action RPG. I loved it so much that I got Diablo III which I am also thoroughly enjoying. I really like the combat style of both games and the fact that you can loot just about everything. I highly recommend The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 2, but I had to run it on medium or low graphics for it to run smoothly.

Looks fun! ^_^ Sadly, I doubt my compy can run it. Makes me want to play Dark Alliance again.
Assuming the spelling is being supafly, and not something entirely different, I love them. <3 Almost to the point of addiction. Easily in my top five foods. Tied with pizza, on some days. I could go to McDonalds, buy a sackful of them, and be happy for a day. Or an hour, realistically.
Fast food wise, I love McDonalds cheeseburgers the best. I think it's the best fast food cheeseburger you can get. Arguably, you can buy a higher quality cheeseburger elsewhere, since Wendy's uses lettuce and tomatoes on their baseline burger, and Burger king chargrills theirs. But better tasting? I would engage in fisticuffs over that. Not a streetfight, but literal fisticuffs, with top hats, monocles, and spats.
As far as more expensive chains, I think I'd place my vote with Huey's, which is a local Memphis chain. Their burgers have that real-food flavor most places lack for some reason. Plus, steak fries.
Still, any cheeseburger is better than not having a cheeseburger at all, and I'll eat them in their fast food format anywhere. I'll make them at home and eat them. I'll eat them in the forest. I would climb a mountain in search of the legendary ultimaburger. If I'm ever in a car wreck, and people think I have died, merely waft a cheeseburger in my direction and I promise I will Hulk my way out of the wreckage in search of it.
In short; yes please.

Same. I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes McDonald's cheese burgers. A lot of my friends think poorly of Mickey Dee's so I don't usually tell them how I feel about the cheese burgers.Chozon1 wrote:Assuming the spelling is being supafly, and not something entirely different, I love them. <3 Almost to the point of addiction. It's funny, because I actually debated on whether or not to expose my love of McDonalds cheeseburgers for that same reason.
It always surprises me the amount of flack you can take for it. O_o Or heck, McD's food in general. I've had members of my family castigate me over it. XD We must stand firm, you and I, and fight for fast food freedom and cheeseburger glory.
I'm actually a pretty big fan of Tapioca, at least in it's pudding format. Especially Tapioca pudding with the whole pearls in it. I could eat that by the bucketful.

The other day I went to a Chinese restaurant with my youth pastor and they had these drinks with the big Tapiocas floating around in them, so we decided to try them. It was a little bit strange taking a sip and having this big glob of gelatinous sugar plop into your mouth. I haven't had Tapioca pudding, but I've heard it's good so I'll have to try it when I get the chance.Chozon1 wrote:I'm actually a pretty big fan of Tapioca, at least in it's pudding format. I would totally drink that. Or try. One too many bugs in my drink for me to be comfortable with chunky beverages.Emwok wrote:The other day I went to a Chinese restaurant with my youth pastor and they had these drinks with the big Tapiocas floating around in them, so we decided to try them. The Hubble Telescope?

It's takes some amazing pictures. I look at the various stars, and nebulas, and space phenomenon, and I am comforted. God's big enough to paint that, so he can take care of me. ^_^
I've heard it's scary complex though. You'd expect it, I guess. But like...six degrees, complex to work on.

Apologies! I got busy.
I blame Halloween planning.
Here you go. One iron cross, and a smattering of my other stuff. ^_^

Sorry for the bad photo. It's past midnight here, and I had to take it at my desk. It's about 8 inches high, for size estimate. The other two photos I took a few months ago and forgot I had them.

These are a bunch of different styles of S hooks, for hanging plants and such.

And here are some snails. ^_^ I love these critters, even though they aren't much more than knick-knacks or paperweights.

When I was five years old or so, my dad would let me go on hubble.org to look at the pictures. I always thought they sent an astronaut with a bionic eye to look through the telescope and take pictures.Chozon1 wrote:It's takes some amazing pictures.
